(NLDO) - Dak Nong Provincial Geopark continues to be recognized by UNESCO as a global geopark for the second time, in the period 2024 - 2027.
On the evening of December 26, the People's Committee of Dak Nong province held a ceremony to receive the title of UNESCO Dak Nong Global Geopark for the second time, period 2024 - 2027.

Dak Nong UNESCO Global Geopark was recognized by UNESCO as a Global Geopark in July 2020. Dak Nong UNESCO Global Geopark covers an area of 4,760km2, with about 65 geological and geomorphological heritage sites. Including a system of nearly 50 caves with a total length of more than 10,000m, still containing many mysteries.

Speaking at the ceremony, Mr. Ho Van Muoi, Chairman of Dak Nong Provincial People's Committee, said that this title marks an important turning point, bringing Dak Nong province officially into the UNESCO global geopark network, including 213 destinations in 48 countries around the world. This is an honor, pride and the result of the continuous efforts of the Party Committee, government and people of Dak Nong province.

Dak Nong UNESCO Global Geopark plays a strategic role in the socio-economic development of the province. Developing tourism based on promoting natural advantages, cultural values - indigenous ecological characteristics, Dak Nong UNESCO Global Geopark is one of the three pillars of the local economy. In addition, the conservation of landscapes, geological and cultural values and raising public awareness have been implemented synchronously, helping Dak Nong increasingly affirm its position on the international tourism map.
"With Dak Nong UNESCO Global Geopark, we are proud to build the brand 'Land of Melodies', where every mountain, every river, every gong sound blends into a magical symphony, conveying the message of harmony between humans and nature" - Mr. Muoi emphasized.
At the ceremony, Ms. Le Thi Hong Van, Director of the Department of Cultural Diplomacy and UNESCO, Secretary General of the Vietnam National Commission for UNESCO (Ministry of Foreign Affairs) and Mr. Trinh Hai Son, Director of the Institute of Geosciences and Mineral Resources (Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment), Head of the Vietnam Geoparks Technical Subcommittee, awarded the certificate of recognition of the title of UNESCO Global Geopark of Vietnam for the second time, period 2024 - 2027 to Dak Nong province.
