On the occasion of the 42nd anniversary of Vietnamese Teachers' Day (November 20, 1982 - November 20, 2024) and the 94th anniversary of the founding of the Vietnam National United Front - Traditional Day of the Vietnam Fatherland Front (November 18, 1930 - November 18, 2024), on the afternoon of November 19, in Hanoi, the Academy of Finance held a ceremony to celebrate Vietnamese Teachers' Day and the National Great Unity Day 2024. Mr. Do Van Chien, Politburo member, Secretary of the Party Central Committee, Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Central Committee attended and spoke at the ceremony.
Also attending were Mr. Ho Duc Phoc, Member of the Party Central Committee, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Finance; Mr. Hau A Lenh, Member of the Party Central Committee, Minister, Chairman of the Ethnic Committee.
At the ceremony, Associate Professor Dr. Nguyen Dao Tung, Director of the Academy of Finance, said that with more than 60 years of construction and development, along with the maturity of the country, generations of teachers and students of the Academy of Finance have always been united, constantly striving, overcoming difficulties, making great contributions to the education and training of the country. Up to now, the Academy of Finance has trained more than 500 PhDs, more than 10,000 Masters and more than 100,000 Bachelors of Economics for the country and more than 500 Bachelors and Masters for Laos and Cambodia.
"We, the generations of lecturers, staff and civil servants today, are determined to continue the career of previous generations, promote the tradition of the Academy, and are determined to do our best to continue to build the Academy to be strong and constantly developing. We are determined to strive to build and develop the Academy of Finance to become the cradle of "attracting talents, nurturing human hearts, perfecting personalities, developing human resources" for leading managers and experts in the fields of Economics, Finance - Banking, Accounting - Auditing, Management - Administration; carrying out the mission of "Providing high-quality financial - accounting training and scientific research products for society", Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Dao Tung emphasized.
Sharing joy with teachers and students of the Academy of Finance on the occasion of Vietnamese Teachers' Day (November 20), Chairman Do Van Chien sent to teachers, officers and staff of the Academy of Finance best wishes and sincere thanks for their efforts in training and fostering high-quality human resources in the fields of economics, finance, banking, business administration... to serve the development of the country.
According to Chairman Do Van Chien, over the past 62 years, generations of teachers, students and trainees of the Academy have made worthy contributions to the cause of national liberation, national construction and defense, especially training high-quality human resources for the country.
Emphasizing that the entire Party, the entire people, and the entire army are making great efforts to successfully implement the goals of the Resolution of the 13th National Party Congress; preparing for the 14th National Party Congress, bringing our country into a new era - the era of national growth, President Do Van Chien believes that the cadres, party members, lecturers, students and pupils of the Academy will be united, creative, have high political determination, take drastic actions, and fulfill the noble mission: "providing high-quality financial and accounting training and scientific research products for society".
"In the new era, Vietnam will participate more deeply in world politics, global economy and human civilization, the Academy will certainly successfully implement its educational philosophy: "global citizen in a changing world". The Academy will adapt better and better to the autonomous mechanism, turn the training process into self-training, closely connect with the needs of society, train what society needs, not what the Academy has, and implement the core values: quality - prestige - efficiency - professionalism and modernity", Chairman Do Van Chien emphasized.
Chairman Do Van Chien said that, deeply imbued with the ideology of President Ho Chi Minh: "In the sky, nothing is more precious than the people. In the world, nothing is stronger than the solidarity of the people", for more than 20 years, the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front has initiated the organization of the National Great Unity Day in residential areas on the occasion of the anniversary of the founding of the Vietnam National United Front - the Traditional Day of the Vietnam Fatherland Front on November 18 every year and achieved very good results.
In practice, the Festival has received the attention of leaders at all levels and the response of people from all walks of life, contributing to consolidating and strengthening the great national unity bloc, creating social consensus, mobilizing the strength of the people, unanimity, and joining hands to successfully implement many goals and tasks of the country, of each locality and base. From that result, the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front reported to the Secretariat to agree to organize a pilot Great Unity Festival in the Vietnamese community abroad.
"The Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front wishes to study more practical aspects, and if possible, report to competent authorities to propose and expand the organization of the National Great Unity Day in administrative agencies, public service agencies, enterprises... Educational and training institutions such as the Academy of Finance can organize the celebration of Vietnamese Teachers' Day on November 20 every year in conjunction with the National Great Unity Day", Chairman Do Van Chien proposed and suggested studying and organizing the Festival with meaningful contents such as: Reviewing the history of the tradition of the Vietnam Fatherland Front along with reviewing the history of the formation and development of the Academy; Showing gratitude to generations of teachers and those who have contributed to the construction of the Academy; Social security activities each year at some humanitarian addresses to help teachers and students in difficult circumstances; Cultural and sports activities to unite teachers, students, and trainees; Rewarding collectives and individuals with outstanding achievements.
Discussing the training and development of human resources for ethnic minority and mountainous areas in general, and economic - financial - accounting human resources in particular, Chairman Do Van Chien said that the Party and State have issued many policies and strategies to prioritize resources for investment in comprehensive development of ethnic minority and mountainous areas. However, currently, ethnic minority and mountainous areas are still the areas with the "5 bests" including: The area with the most difficult natural conditions; The lowest quality of human resources; The slowest economic and social development; The lowest access to basic social services; The highest poverty rate.
Chairman Do Van Chien hopes that the preparatory colleges and the preparatory university system of the Viet Bac High School for the Highlands will receive the attention and cooperation of the Academy of Finance in receiving students from the ethnic minority preparatory college. Along with that, the Academy can conduct postgraduate and doctoral training for officials and civil servants working in ethnic minority and mountainous areas using the State budget in the National Target Program.
On this occasion, from his own experience, Chairman Do Van Chien would like to share a few words with the students of the Academy of Finance: There may be people who study well but when they start working, they may not be good at their jobs or successful, but successful people must be educated. In today's era, being good at a major is a necessary condition, learning foreign languages, digital technology, and soft skills is enough for us to confidently step into life.
Quoting General Secretary To Lam's speech at the meeting with teachers on the occasion of Vietnam Teachers' Day: "There are solutions to completely eliminate illiteracy, especially in remote areas, among ethnic minorities. Launching the movement of "popular digital education", Chairman Do Van Chien suggested that the Academy will have many contributions to implement this direction.
President Do Van Chien also expressed his wish that delegates, teachers, students and trainees spread the spirit of great solidarity to a new height; together engrave and carry out well the sacred advice of beloved President Ho Chi Minh: "Unity, unity, great unity/ Success, success, great success".
