On the occasion of September 2nd holiday, car rental businesses earned hundreds of millions of dong

This year, people have a long holiday on September 2nd. Therefore, the demand for car rental for the holiday is very high. Most of the car rental companies are fully booked.

Mr. Nguyen Hoang Tien, a specialist at a media company in District 1 (HCMC), said that on the occasion of September 2 this year, his company had 4 days off. Therefore, he and his family rented a 7-seat car to drive themselves to Binh Thuan and Ninh Thuan during the holidays. The car rental price is 1.5 million VND/day.

“ I don’t buy a car because owning a car in Ho Chi Minh City is very inconvenient. Every time there are holidays or Tet, my family often rents a car to go back to our hometown or travel. Because we don’t need to travel much, renting a car helps us save a lot more money than owning a car ,” said Mr. Tien.

According to Mr. Tien, his family's trip will begin on the morning of September 1 and return to Ho Chi Minh City on the afternoon of September 4.

The family of Ms. Tran Thi Huong, living in Tan Binh district, rented a 16-seat car for her paternal and maternal families to travel together during the holiday.

Ms. Huong shared that her family will go to Da Lat and Nha Trang during the September 2nd holiday. She rented a car and driver for 12 million VND/4 days. This rental price increased by about 20% compared to normal days.

“ The car rental company announced a price increase due to high demand. To rent a car and driver, I had to pay a 30% deposit in advance ,” said Ms. Huong.

Mr. Vo Ta Cong, owner of a car rental business in District 10, said that his company has 25 cars of all kinds for rent. During the September 2nd holiday, the demand for renting 4-7 seat cars from families is very high, accounting for about 70%. Next is the demand for renting 16 seat cars.

“ Family customers often choose small cars, while businesses and groups often choose cars with 29 - 45 seats. Prices also depend on the type of car, ranging from 1.2 - 3.5 million VND/day, ” said Mr. Cong.

According to Mr. Cong, the price of renting a car on September 2nd also increased slightly compared to normal days, an increase of 10-20%. Customers who want to rent a car must deposit 1-3 million VND in advance to reserve a spot. Meanwhile, on normal days, customers do not need to deposit.

According to Mr. Cong, 100% of his company's cars are "fully booked" to serve from September 1 to 4. The car rental revenue during the September 2 holiday of this business can reach 220 - 250 million VND.

Mr. Chu Minh Phuc, representative of a car rental company in Binh Thanh district, revealed that September 2nd is one of the "profitable" occasions for car rental companies.

Revenues of all units “exploded” thanks to increased demand. For units with a few dozen vehicles in operation, revenue of several hundred million VND on the occasion of September 2nd is completely normal.

“ The demand for car rental during the holidays is very high, but my company does not have enough cars to rent. Most of the cars have been booked in advance. All drivers in the company are ready to serve customers during the holidays ,” said Mr. Phuc.
