At the online TV consultation program with the topic "Things to do immediately after the high school graduation exam" organized by Thanh Nien Newspaper yesterday afternoon (July 17), many issues related to admission, floor scores, standard scores... were informed by experts to candidates (TS). The program is online at: thanhnien.vn , Facebook fanpage, YouTube channel, TikTok Thanh Nien Newspaper.

Regarding the admission floor score, Dr. Vo Thanh Hai, Vice Principal of Duy Tan University, said: "Students need to pay close attention to the floor score, which is the minimum score that candidates must achieve to be eligible for admission. In the near future, schools will announce the floor score for each major at their school. For the health sciences and pedagogy majors, the Ministry of Education and Training will announce it before July 21."
Dr. Hai noted that the floor score for each major and each school will be different. "In particular, students should not confuse the admission score with the admission score. The admission standard score can be equal to or greater than the floor score, depending on the quota, the number of registrations and the score distribution of the registered candidates. In recent years, many schools have set a very low floor score but the admission score is very high, sometimes 5-10 points higher," Dr. Hai advised.
Master Pham Doan Nguyen, Vice Principal of Ho Chi Minh City University of Economics and Finance, said that to avoid falling into the "floor score trap", candidates need to refer to the difference between the floor score and the standard score of 2023 at schools and learn about this year's quota of the major before registering their wishes.
Dr. Nguyen Van Kha, Deputy Director of the Admissions and Communications Center of Ho Chi Minh City University of Industry and Trade, emphasized that if a candidate's exam score is lower than or equal to the previous year's benchmark score of the major at the school he or she wants to study, he or she must consider it because the chance of admission will not be high.

Regarding the method of registering admission wishes on the system, Dr. Vo Thanh Hai said: "There will be many students with higher graduation exam scores than previously predicted. At this time, students still want to use exam scores for admission even though they have been admitted early to some majors. If so, students need to put their wishes based on exam scores first, then put their previous early admission wishes right after so that if they are not admitted based on exam scores, they still have a chance to pass their early admission wishes."
Master Pham Doan Nguyen and Master Truong Quang Tri, Deputy Head of Student Affairs Department of Nguyen Tat Thanh University, said that if a candidate has been conditionally admitted to many majors and has not made any changes, he only needs to register one wish in the system - the major at his favorite school.
However, Dr. Vo Thanh Hai especially noted that for those who are admitted early to health majors, if they do not meet the threshold to ensure input quality (good academic performance in grade 12, or graduation score of 8.0 or higher), they cannot apply the method of registering for a single wish as above.
