The Ministry of Education and Training said it is expected to issue a document guiding the organization of the 2025 high school graduation exam in early March.
According to the Ministry of Education and Training, on the afternoon of February 19, Minister Nguyen Kim Son chaired a meeting on preparations for the 2025 high school graduation exam.
Large-scale testing of exam organization software
At the meeting, Mr. Huynh Van Chuong, Director of the Department of Quality Management (Ministry of Education and Training), said that in order to ensure the work of creating exam questions and building a question bank for the high school graduation exam from 2025 in an open direction, promoting collective intelligence of the whole industry, and at the same time being suitable for the method of one program with many textbooks, the Department of Quality Management has organized training sessions for teachers nationwide.
As a result, teachers have become familiar with the form of competency assessment in accordance with the 2018 General Education Program.
In early March, the Ministry of Education and Training will issue guidelines for high school graduation exams.
Up to this point, localities have also allowed 12th grade students to register for the first trial exam of the subjects expected to be selected for the high school graduation exam (in addition to the two compulsory subjects of math and literature) and organize study and trial exams according to the exam format announced by the Ministry of Education and Training.
In the coming time, the Ministry of Education and Training will issue an official dispatch guiding the organization of the exam (expected in early March); complete the exam organization software systems and test them on a large scale, check and evaluate security and safety before putting them into use; continue to train teachers to develop exam questions; continue to organize conferences and training seminars so that localities can clearly understand the model, how to organize the exam, the structure and format of the exam, exam time, exam schedule, etc.
Mr. Chuong also noted that localities should decentralize and delegate authority clearly and fully, and take full responsibility for the local exams. At the same time, they should develop plans and prepare adequate human and material resources. They should focus on organizing teaching and assessment closely following the exam program and content, and organizing mock exams so that teachers and students can get acquainted with the exam organization method.
Note on the first innovation exam
Concluding the meeting, Minister Nguyen Kim Son assessed that preparations for the 2025 exam were more proactive than in previous years in all stages, showing awareness of the importance of the 2025 exam season.
With the requirement to anticipate all problems and see all challenges to prepare with caution, Mr. Son suggested that units focus on doing well some stages in organizing the 2025 high school graduation exam such as setting questions, training, inspection, communication, etc.
As this is the first exam to be conducted in the spirit of innovation, the head of the education sector paid special attention to the rehearsal process to gain experience. "The goal of ensuring quality and having a safe exam has not changed," Mr. Son emphasized.
Previously, in October 2024, the Ministry of Education and Training announced 18 reference questions, ensuring compliance with the regulations on the structure and format of the high school graduation exam from 2025 previously issued by the Ministry of Education and Training.
The reference questions also closely follow the 2018 General Education Program, focusing mainly on grade 12, to help teachers proactively teach and review right from the beginning of the school year. Compared to previous years, this year's reference questions were announced 5 months earlier.
