In particular, the images of Thanh Nam in the past stand out with Nam Dinh Ancient Citadel, Nam Dinh Huong Exam School, Nam Dinh Textile Complex Factory, old town, craft street and many famous historical and cultural relics such as: Nam Dinh Flagpole, Vong Cung Pagoda, Nguyen Thuong Temple, Hoi Quang Temple...

One of the activities maintained annually by the Thien Thuong Antiques Association and the Provincial Antiques Research and Collection Club at the Tet Market "A Glimpse of Thanh Nam" is to organize antique exchange booths and an antique market following the custom of "buying and selling for luck" in early Spring, attracting a large number of antique lovers from the provinces in the Southern Red River Delta to bring their products to attend. When visiting the antique market, everyone wants to buy a suitable item, hoping for a new year of good luck and peace. The ancient Thanh Nam is famous nationwide for its hobby of playing with bonsai, especially orchids - elegant spring hobbies that have been passed down from the Tran Dynasty and still exist today. At the Tet Market, the Provincial Orchid Association organizes the Exhibition "The scent and color of Nam Dinh cymbidiums", displaying and exchanging cymbidiums (green and yellow, colored, and painted orchids), and unique orchids by artisans and gardeners inside and outside the province. Coming to this year's Tet Market, the Nam Dinh City White-ringed Bird Club organized a display and exhibition to introduce many rare white-ringed bird species and bird cages with sophisticated and valuable designs. The highlight is the introduction of "Pho Nam Dinh" - which has been recognized as a National Intangible Cultural Heritage; recreating the image of a traditional countryside market with stalls selling "snacks and breakfast" such as: Kenh village rolls, banh duc, banh khuc and other culinary specialties that are increasingly popular with consumers: xiu pao cakes, sìu chau candy, longan cakes...; cultural exchange "Vietnamese Kitchen" with many culinary quintessence of some regions across the country.

On this occasion, the provincial Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism also brought publications, leaflets, and brochures about Nam Dinh tourism to introduce to visitors the province's rich tourism resources, typical tourist areas and destinations, and local special tourism products and services.

Comrade Vu Duc Tho, Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism said: “Holding out since the Spring of Mau Tuat 2018, up to now, the Tet Market “A Glimpse of Thanh Nam” has become an attractive destination attracting the attention of many classes of people in the province and tourists during the traditional Tet holiday of the nation. Every year, the Tet Market “A Glimpse of Thanh Nam” is researched, supplemented, and organized with a larger scale and richer, more attractive content, meeting the needs of sightseeing and enjoying traditional cultural values of tourists when coming to the ancient land of Thanh Nam - the present-day city of Nam Dinh. The activities organized in the Tet Market “A Glimpse of Thanh Nam” aim to promote the preservation and promotion of the values of tangible and intangible cultural heritages of Nam Dinh, linking together to form a rich and diverse chain of activities; at the same time creating unique cultural products, contributing to the development of the local socio-economy and tourism”.

Thanh Nam used to be considered the second capital of Dai Viet under the Tran Dynasty after Thang Long Capital with many typical cultural features of Tran Son Nam Ha in the past. Through historical periods, this land still preserves, conserves and promotes many traditional cultural values. In the current period of integration and development, along with changes due to time and the impact of the negative side of the market mechanism, many traditional cultural values are at risk of fading away and being forgotten. In which, the image of an old Tet market reflects the daily life and traditional cultural beauty of Thanh Nam with old customs and practices remaining only in the memory of the elderly. Organizing the Tet Market "A glimpse of Thanh Nam" is like a meaningful spiritual gift in the first days of the year. Locals and tourists not only get to participate in and enjoy unique cultural and artistic activities, experience the heritage space, but also have the opportunity to visit and learn about important historical works and relics of Thanh Nam such as: Provincial Museum, Nam Dinh Flagpole, and combine tourism at other relics, scenic spots and traditional festivals in the province during the New Year.
