Coach Hoang Anh Tuan officially announced the shortlist of 24 U17 Vietnam players to go to Thailand to attend the final round of the 2023 AFC U17 Championship.

According to the list (including one reserve player), the Vietnam U17 team consists of 3 goalkeepers, 10 defenders, 6 midfielders and 5 strikers.
Many players who played well in the qualifying round last year were named, such as goalkeeper Pham Dinh Hai, Nguyen Bao Ngoc, defender Vi Dinh Thuong; midfielders Le Dinh Long Vu, Pham Nguyen Quoc Trung, captain Nguyen Cong Phuong; strikers Hoang Cong Hau, Nguyen Le Phat and Phung Quang Tu.
According to plan, Coach Hoang Anh Tuan will officially finalize the list of 23 U17 Vietnam players participating in the tournament before officially entering the competition.
The 24 players going to Thailand are considered the most promising faces in the U17 generation of Vietnamese football at this time.
The players named in the list are all those who performed well during the training trip in Qatar as well as in Japan.
During the training trip, U17 Vietnam had two friendly matches and both achieved favorable results. Coach Hoang Anh Tuan's students drew 0-0 with U17 Laos and beat host U17 Qatar 2-0.
During the training camp in Japan, U17 Vietnam had 3 matches against teams of increasing difficulty. U17 Vietnam won 3-1 against Kaisenkan High School (May 25) and U18 Honda FC (May 28), before being held to a 3-3 draw by Tokoha University on May 31.
In the rehearsal match, U17 Vietnam lost 0-2 to U17 Yemen at Thong Nhat Stadium (Ho Chi Minh City).
At the 2023 AFC U17 Finals, Vietnam U17 is in Group D with Japan U17, India U17 and Uzbekistan U17.
In the 2023 AFC U17 Championship, the teams will compete in a round robin format. The top two teams in each group will advance to the quarterfinals.
The quarter-finals will take place over two days (June 25-26), the semi-finals will take place on June 29, while the final will take place at 7 p.m. on July 2.
Notably, the four teams that qualify for the semi-finals will represent Asia in the U17 World Cup finals.
