On the evening of September 1, the Military Command of Song Cau town (Phu Yen province) quickly reported on the drowning incident that caused Major Truong Hong Ky, Deputy Commander of the Military Command of this town, to die while rescuing two people swept away by the waves.
Accordingly, at around 4:30 p.m. on September 1, at Dong Be beach (Vinh Hoa village, Xuan Thinh commune), a drowning incident occurred, causing a father and son to be swept away by the waves.
At that time, Major Truong Hong Ky was on duty with his family in his hometown in Xuan Thinh commune. When he discovered two people being swept away by the waves, Major Ky quickly swam out to save the two people and brought them to shore. However, during the process of swimming to shore, due to the big waves, Mr. Ky was exhausted.
Seeing the incident, many people came to bring Mr. Ky to shore to perform first aid and took him to Song Cau Town Medical Center for emergency treatment but he did not survive.
Major Truong Hong Ky was born in 1981, living with his wife and 2 children (the youngest is 10 years old) in Xuan Yen ward, Song Cau town.
In a quick response to SGGP Newspaper reporters that evening, Mr. Phan Tran Van Huy, Chairman of Song Cau Town People's Committee, confirmed the incident and said that the locality is organizing visits, encouraging and supporting the family to take care of the funeral of Major Truong Hong Ky.
According to Mr. Huy, a father and son drowned while swimming in the sea and were rescued by Major Ky. The son has now recovered, and the father was taken to a hospital in Quy Nhon City for emergency treatment...
