The content of the work vividly recreates the journey from the field research steps in Africa in 2013 of Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Chi Vinh and then the important and key strategic decisions of the Party, State and Central Military Commission for the birth of the Vietnam Peacekeeping Force.
Each story in the book helps readers see more clearly the silent sacrifice and the spirit of solidarity without borders of the Vietnamese "blue beret" soldiers, including the significant contribution of the officers and soldiers of Military Hospital 175 in establishing, organizing training and sending Field Hospitals 2.1, 2.3 and 2.5 to carry out peacekeeping missions in South Sudan. At the same time, additional learning materials, propaganda and education are provided to raise awareness and responsibility for officers and soldiers in the hospital and the younger generation about the position, meaning and importance of participating in the United Nations peacekeeping force.

Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Chi Vinh
“Journey for Peace” does not stop at “stories from Africa”, but also the author’s passion for the Vietnamese people’s desire for peace, for the task of protecting the Fatherland early, from afar, protecting it with both military strength and peaceful measures.

Readers will see that “Journey for Peace” is not only the memoir of a general who is sharp in strategy and decisive in action. The book is also imbued with humanity, love, camaraderie and profound lessons about positive values in life and career. That is also the most important message that the author wants to send to young readers today and tomorrow in the concluding part of the book.
Writing the introduction to the book, comrade Nguyen Trong Nghia, Head of the Central Propaganda Department, hopes: "This book will become a source of inspiration for the young generation of Vietnam, especially young people in the military. Stories about the courage, sense of responsibility, and self-sacrifice for the noble goal of Vietnamese "blue beret" soldiers will be a strong source of motivation, arousing patriotism, national pride and the desire to contribute of future generations."
