Despite the somewhat volatile market developments, large stocks recorded a slight decrease, while a series of Apec stocks including API, APS, IDJ increased to the maximum amplitude when there was "no" liquidity on the selling side.
With the lowest market price, IDJ Vietnam Investment stock (HNX: IDJ) recorded an increase of 9.6% to VND 5,700/share with a trading volume of nearly 7 million shares.
In addition, shares of Asia-Pacific Securities (HNX: APS) and Asia-Pacific Investment Corporation (HNX: API) both increased to the ceiling price of 9%, reaching VND6,200/share and VND6,300/share, respectively. Liquidity decreased somewhat when only about 2-3 million shares were changed hands.
This development occurred after witnessing a series of unsupported plummeting sessions of this group due to the stock market manipulation incident that occurred at Asia-Pacific Securities JSC, Asia-Pacific Investment JSC and IDJ Vietnam Investment JSC.
In addition, the Investigation Agency also prosecuted Mr. Nguyen Do Lang - General Director of APS, his wife and a series of related individuals.

Specifically, the authorities said that from May 4, 2021 to December 31, 2021, Nguyen Do Lang (49 years old) - General Director of APS, Mr. Pham Duy Hung (44 years old) - Chairman of the Board of Directors of APS and Ms. Huynh Thi Mai Dung (48 years old), Mr. Lang's wife, directed Ms. Pham Thi Duc Viet (41 years old) - Deputy Head of APS Customer Service Department to use 40 securities accounts opened at APS to continuously buy and sell, creating fake "supply and demand" and new closing prices, pushing the stock prices of 3 codes API, APS, IDJ to increase abnormally.
Accordingly, API shares increased from VND 27,300/share to VND 102,000/share (up 372%), APS from VND 10,400/share to VND 59,900/share (up 581%), IDJ from VND 14,500 to VND 75,000/share (up 503%).
In addition, the defendants directed Ms. Viet to place buy and sell orders for 3 stocks API, IDJ, APS on the 40 securities accounts mentioned above, then asked Viet to collect and report the results of the order matching transactions via internal email, text messages or oral reports.

The source of money used for manipulation came from the defendants Lang, Dung, and Hung. These defendants directed Thanh to carry out the operation, and then Thanh assigned his subordinates to directly deposit and withdraw money from 40 securities accounts.
At the same time, in addition to using accounts to trade and manipulate prices, defendants Lang, Hung, and Dung also directed their subordinates to regularly post positive information about the three stock codes APS, API, and IDJ on Zalo groups and forums, thereby calling for and attracting investors to buy these stocks.
The defendants' actions attracted many investors to participate in trading, buying and selling, and causing the prices of the three stocks APS, API, and IDJ to continuously increase to the ceiling price many times.
After the manipulation period, the subjects sold these shares, illegally profiting a total of VND 157,062,026,688 .
