Through a series of recent multilateral visits by senior Vietnamese leaders to Latin America, such as the official visit of President Luong Cuong to Chile, Peru and attendance at the APEC Summit in Peru; the working trip of Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh to Brazil, attendance at the G20 summit, and visit to the Dominican Republic, Vietnam has demonstrated its active role in multilateral mechanisms. This has received positive responses and high appreciation from international friends and partners and has been prominently reported by many major Mexican newspapers.

In an article titled “Vietnam is always proactive, actively participates and contributes to APEC”, Voces Del Periodista - an academic forum and voice of Mexican journalists, emphasized that in 26 years of participating in APEC, Vietnam is one of the few members that has twice successfully assumed the role of APEC host, in 2006 and 2017, and is also one of the most active members in proposing APEC initiatives and projects.

The semi-monthly magazine Voces Del Periodista , published at the end of November, stated that since the beginning of 2024, Vietnam has made many contributions to the APEC cooperation process, implementing many initiatives and projects on structural reform, finance, science and technology, innovation, human resource development, tourism, agriculture, climate change response, sustainable and inclusive growth. Vietnam is currently the Head of the APEC Agenda Development Group on Structural Reform for the 2026-2030 period, and is chairing the development of the APEC Economic Policy Report 2025, which has been highly appreciated by many APEC members.

Author Mouris Salloum George, also President of the Mexican Journalists Association, assessed that at the APEC Summit Week 2024 taking place from November 12-16, the Vietnamese delegation effectively coordinated with APEC members to contribute to the process of building the Joint Statement of APEC leaders and important documents of the Conference.

"At the activities within the framework of the conference, President Luong Cuong made many strategic and innovative proposals to further promote the role and position of APEC in international economic cooperation and connectivity," the article emphasized.

With the title “Vietnam’s international integration policy”, Regeneración newspaper - the political media channel of the ruling National Reconstruction Movement (Morena) party in Mexico assessed that the event of Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh attending the G20 Summit in Brazil from November 16-19 continues to affirm Vietnam’s responsible contribution in addressing global challenges, at the same time, through the working trip, Vietnam will consolidate and promote cooperation with partners in many fields.

According to the Regeneración newspaper on November 17, in addition to President Luong Cuong's attendance at the APEC Forum in Peru and Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh's attendance at the G20 Summit in Brazil, two key Vietnamese leaders are making visits to Latin American countries. This is a clear demonstration of the increasingly strong and substantive relationship between Vietnam and Latin America, and marks a remarkable transformation, which is the development from traditional friends to integration partners.

According to author Pedro Gellert, towards the 50th anniversary of the establishment of Vietnam-Mexico diplomatic relations in 2025, within the framework of activities at the G20 Summit in Brazil, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh is expected to meet with new Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum, the first female President in the history of the North American region, who officially took office in early October.
