President To Lam emphasized that the Party and State always pay attention to the Vietnamese community abroad, especially the Vietnamese community in Cambodia who still face many difficulties in life.
On the afternoon of July 13, continuing the State visit to Cambodia, President To Lam and the high-ranking delegation met and had a friendly talk with the staff of Vietnamese representative agencies in Cambodia, along with a large number of business representatives and the Vietnamese community living, studying and working in Cambodia. Reporting to the President on the activities of the representative agencies and the community in recent times, Ambassador Nguyen Huy Tang said that the staff of the Vietnamese Embassy in Cambodia and the Vietnamese representative agencies alongside the Embassy always thoroughly grasp the foreign policy of the Party and State, make efforts, coordinate effectively, and complete all assigned tasks in all fields.

The Ambassador said that the Vietnamese community in Cambodia currently has more than 103,000 people, is a community with a long history and is the overseas Vietnamese community that faces the most difficulties due to many objective and subjective reasons. Meanwhile, representatives of Vietnamese people in Cambodia shared about the situation of the Vietnamese community living in Cambodia, efforts to integrate into local life, efforts to unite the community and contribute to solidarity and friendship activities between the two countries; the business community, despite many difficulties, has strived to rise up, comply with the laws of the host country, and contribute to creating jobs for people in the community and local people. Along with that, the people expressed their wish that our Party and State would request the Cambodian Government to create more favorable conditions for overseas Vietnamese in Cambodia in matters of nationality, education, training, employment and have policies to facilitate the activities of Vietnamese associations and businesses in Cambodia, support scholarships for children in difficult circumstances; build schools and educational facilities to help generations of Vietnamese in Cambodia integrate deeply, improve their qualifications to integrate well into life in the host country.President To Lam speaks. In a warm and intimate atmosphere, President To Lam said that his visit to Laos and Cambodia this time aims to continue implementing the Party's foreign policy, prioritizing the consolidation and development of good relations and traditional friendship with neighboring countries and member countries of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), thereby enhancing comprehensive, sustainable and long-term cooperation, contributing to the stability and prosperous development of the region. The Cambodian side gave the President and the delegation of high-ranking officials of Vietnam a solemn welcome, showing respect and giving high priority to the traditional friendship and solidarity with Vietnam. Sharing with overseas Vietnamese, the President said that during the meetings, the leaders of the two countries emphasized the continued high priority given to consolidating and strengthening the traditional friendship and comprehensive cooperation in all fields between the Governments and peoples of the two countries. Regarding the community, the President also requested that the Cambodian side continue to have favorable policies to help people of Vietnamese origin live, work and study in accordance with Cambodian law, as well as effectively implement relocation, resettlement and job conversion work. The President emphasized that the Party and State always care about the Vietnamese community abroad, especially the Vietnamese community in Cambodia, which still faces many difficulties in life; understand and share the difficulties of the people, however, in order to have a stable life and ensure their legitimate rights, overseas Vietnamese also need to improve their legal status, be aware of complying with local regulations and laws, strive to improve themselves, and pay attention to creating a good educational foundation for future generations. In the coming time, with the attention and support of the Party and the State, and the unanimous contribution of businesses, the President requested the Khmer-Vietnam Association, Vietnamese associations in Cambodia and all people to continue to strive, continue to enhance the spirit of solidarity, help each other overcome difficulties, strictly comply with local laws, continue to promote the fine traditions of the Vietnamese community in Cambodia, make every effort to contribute to the socio-economic development of the host country, as well as turn towards the homeland and preserve and foster the close relationship between Vietnam and Cambodia. The President highly appreciated the Ambassador and the staff of the Embassy and other representative agencies in Cambodia for their efforts to overcome many difficulties and challenges, and successfully complete the assigned tasks in preserving, consolidating and developing the good neighborly relationship, traditional friendship, comprehensive cooperation, long-term sustainability with Cambodia; is an important bridge to support businesses of the two countries to promote cooperation in various fields; at the same time, pay great attention to taking care of the material and spiritual life of Vietnamese people. Accepting the direction of the President, Ambassador Nguyen Huy Tang affirmed that with the deep concern of the Party and State, Vietnamese representative agencies in Cambodia will continue to do well in foreign affairs, promote comprehensive cooperation in all fields with Cambodia, and continue to promote advocacy work, support the community, and fulfill the tasks entrusted by the leaders of the Party and State. On this occasion, President To Lam presented the Khmer-Vietnam Association with 20,000 USD to support the Association in organizing more meaningful activities for the people. The President expressed his pleasure at meeting and exchanging with former Cambodian students who studied in Vietnam, who have, are and will actively contribute to the development of the relationship between Cambodia and Vietnam. Reviewing the important milestones in the Vietnam-Cambodia relationship in recent times, the President affirmed that the Vietnam-Cambodia relationship has achieved many positive results, strongly contributing to the development of each country, as well as contributing to further consolidating and strengthening the Vietnam-Cambodia relationship under the motto "Good neighbors, traditional friendship, comprehensive cooperation, long-term sustainability." The President highly appreciated the fact that Deputy Prime Minister Hun Many, who is also Secretary General of the Central Committee of the Cambodian People's Party's Mass Mobilization Commission, President of the Cambodian Youth Federation, and a high-ranking representative of the Cambodian youth generation, during his recent visit to Vietnam, continued to affirm that Cambodia will never forget the material and spiritual support and especially the blood sacrifices of Vietnam to help Cambodia escape the genocidal regime and emphasized the need to widely propagate among the people, especially the younger generation, the value of the solidarity and friendship between the two countries and the two peoples. In the context of the current rapidly changing and complicated world situation, the President hopes that former Cambodian students who studied in Vietnam, regardless of their positions, will always be a solid bridge connecting the two countries' relations; actively propagate and spread to all classes of Cambodian people, especially the younger generation, the position and importance of the Vietnam-Cambodia relationship for the development of each country. Agreeing with the proposals of the alumni association representatives, the President pledged to propose that relevant Vietnamese agencies grant more scholarships to Cambodian students to study at Vietnamese universities, as well as consider establishing a Vietnamese alumni association in Cambodia, thereby further promoting the friendly relationship between the two countries.
