On March 22, the People's Committee of Bac Ninh province held a conference on environmental pollution treatment in Dai Bai craft village industrial cluster (Gia Binh district) and craft villages, industrial clusters, and facilities causing serious environmental pollution in the province.
In recent times, the work of handling environmental pollution in craft villages and industrial clusters in the province has achieved many important results. The three craft villages and industrial clusters of Phong Khe (Bac Ninh city), Phu Lam (Tien Du district), and Van Mon (Yen Phong district) that have been seriously polluted for many years have been fundamentally and thoroughly resolved, creating a premise and lesson for the work of handling environmental pollution in Dai Bai industrial cluster and other craft villages, industrial clusters, and facilities causing serious environmental pollution in the province.
Dai Bai bronze casting village has existed for a long time, with the main occupations: bronze casting, aluminum casting and handicraft production, metal laminating, mechanical processing, metal finishing of details, metal carving, 3-metal assembly... The village has 2,326 households, 8,390 people, of which: 461 households produce handicrafts; 184 households cast aluminum and bronze; 26 households specialize in recycling scrap; the remaining households do agriculture, services, and trade.
Currently, Dai Bai craft village industrial cluster was built in 2002, with an area of 6.2 hectares managed by Dai Bai Commune People's Committee, with 75 production households and no centralized wastewater treatment area; no waste treatment area from aluminum and copper recycling and casting production activities; no self-treatment system for wastewater; 132 households built 170 chimneys with an average height of 7 - 22m to treat exhaust gas.
The craft village has created a number of new occupations, notably the casting and recycling of aluminum and copper scrap, and metal cleaning activities; the operation process does not ensure environmental protection, the waste from these activities is large, untreated, and discharged directly into the environment, so it is the main cause of environmental pollution.
On March 21, the Provincial People's Committee continued to issue Plan No. 171 on strengthening management, inspection, supervision, environmental pollution treatment, fire prevention and fighting, and rescue in craft villages, industrial clusters, and facilities causing serious environmental pollution in the province.
In particular, focusing on inspecting compliance with regulations on environment, fire prevention and fighting, electrical safety... for establishments, households, individuals with production and business activities in Dai Bai bronze casting craft village and Dai Bai industrial cluster (Gia Binh); Khac Niem cake and vermicelli craft (Bac Ninh city); Da Hoi steel recycling craft village and Chau Khe industrial cluster, Chau Khe industrial cluster expansion, Chau Khe ward, Ma Ong industrial cluster, Dinh Bang ward (Tu Son city); Xuan Lam industrial cluster, Xuan Lam ward (Thuan Thanh town) and production establishments located in densely populated urban areas, rural areas causing serious environmental pollution. Inspection period is from March 25 to April 30, 2025.
Chairman of the People's Committee of Bac Ninh province, Vuong Quoc Tuan, affirmed that the province's viewpoint is not to let the pain of environmental pollution last long, and not to accept the existence of hot spots and violations of environmental pollution. He requested departments, branches and localities to thoroughly grasp the province's direction, continue to focus on reviewing and resolutely handling environmental pollution issues in the province.
Immediately after this conference, the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee requested Gia Binh district to deploy a drastic and synchronous campaign, strictly handle violations, resolutely prepare files to prosecute serious violations and repeat violations. Review and strictly handle cases of officials who collude and lax management.
“From now until April 15, all facilities causing environmental pollution in Dai Bai commune must be handled; facilities that do not meet the operating conditions regarding land, construction, environment, electrical safety, fire prevention, etc. must stop operating” - Chairman of Bac Ninh Provincial People's Committee emphasized.
