Russian national airline Aeroflot operates the Moscow - Cam Ranh route using Airbus A350-900, with a capacity of 315 passengers, and A330-300, with a capacity of 295 passengers, with a frequency of 3 flights/week.
The first flight departed from Sheremetyevo International Airport, Moscow and landed at Cam Ranh International Airport at 9:30 a.m. on March 23 with 292 passengers. Russian tourists were very happy to travel to Khanh Hoa in the warm weather. Mr. Nguyen Van Nhuan, Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Khanh Hoa province, along with representatives of relevant agencies and businesses, welcomed tourists at the foot of the plane's stairs.
Russia is a traditional tourist market for Khanh Hoa province. However, due to the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic and the conflict between Russia and Ukraine, flights from Russia to Khanh Hoa have been suspended for a long time, so the number of Russian tourists to Khanh Hoa has decreased in recent years. During a working trip to Russia in mid-March 2025, the delegation of Khanh Hoa province had a working session with representatives of the Russian national airline Aeroflot.
At the meeting, the leaders of Khanh Hoa Provincial People's Committee emphasized the importance of opening direct flights in promoting tourism between the two countries. Restoring the flight route from Moscow to Khanh Hoa not only shortens travel time but also reduces airfares, creating favorable conditions to promote growth in the Russian tourist market to Khanh Hoa; at the same time, contributing to promoting trade and bilateral cooperation between Russia and Vietnam.
Before the Russian national airline Aeroflot, Russia's Azur Air has resumed flights from 11 Russian cities to Khanh Hoa since March 17, but these are only charter flights. This airline plans to have 50 flights in April, then gradually increase to nearly 100 flights in July. In addition to Azur Air and Aeroflot, many other airlines in the Russian Federation are planning to open flights to Cam Ranh this summer.
