Mr. Dang Van Khoa, member of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front, Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City Association for Conservation of Nature and Environment, said that 18 schools in Binh Thanh district have been surveyed to understand the land fund and types of trees that the schools require.

"Schools are one of the priority locations that the campaign aims to send to future generations, spreading more strongly the message of green living, living close to nature," Mr. Khoa said and shared that planting trees not only helps the school environment become cleaner but also encourages students to be aware of caring for, protecting, loving the environment, understanding the meaning of protecting trees and spreading that spirit to everyone around.
According to Mr. Khoa, the green journey will not stop within the framework of the ceremony but will continue to spread throughout the country. Each tree planted is a green lung for the planet, a commitment of the young generation to the sustainable future of the country.
"I call on all union members, students, organizations, businesses and individuals to join hands and contribute to the campaign "Million trees for the national environment", Mr. Khoa emphasized.
Associate Professor Dr. Huynh Quyen, Rector of Ho Chi Minh City University of Natural Resources and Environment, hopes that the school will contribute a small part to national commitments on environmental protection and climate change adaptation according to international agreements such as the Paris Agreement on climate change. Increasing greenery will also help Vietnam achieve its goals of reducing greenhouse gas emissions and promoting sustainable development.
"Through the campaign, I call on cadres, teachers, especially students to clearly recognize their responsibilities and promote their professional capacity, taking the lead in environmental protection work," Mr. Quyen shared and suggested continuing propaganda to create a change in awareness so that each cadre, teacher, and student can act together to protect the environment, create a green lifestyle, and contribute to protecting the living environment.
Within the framework of the event, the Ho Chi Minh City Association for Conservation of Nature and Environment awarded the decision to establish the Association for Conservation of Nature and Environment - Ho Chi Minh City University of Natural Resources and Environment. This is an organization that connects students who have the desire and passion for environmental protection activities to enhance the volunteer movement of universities.

In the morning, the campaign collected 11,000 trees, of which the Ho Chi Minh City Association for Conservation of Nature and Environment contributed 10,000 trees. The delegates planted trees together at the campus of the Ho Chi Minh City University of Natural Resources and Environment.
In the coming time, the school's unions and associations will integrate environmental propaganda and action activities at Nha Be campus and 18 schools in Binh Thanh district.
The "Million trees for the national environment" campaign also opens two more "Exchange trash for trees" locations every Saturday at 36 Nguyen Huy Tu, Da Kao ward, District 1 and Ho Chi Minh City University of Natural Resources and Environment (236B Le Van Sy, Ward 1, Tan Binh district).
In addition, mobilize about 300 union members and students to participate in expanding tree planting in Ho Chi Minh City and some neighboring localities with diverse tree species, suitable for the conditions of each area and ensuring the survival rate of trees is over 90%.
Ambassador of the Campaign "Million Trees for the National Environment" - Runner-up of Miss Vietnam Times Le Kim Khoe (Kamii) shared: "Hopefully the green journey of the campaign will encourage the community to know how to live green, live healthy, contribute to fighting climate change, spread the habit of 'Living green - thinking green and acting green' with many specific, practical actions for a greener Vietnam".
She also expressed her honor to work side by side with students of Ho Chi Minh City University of Natural Resources and Environment to spread “Green Living”, together carrying out the mission “Where there is need, there is youth, where there is difficulty, there is youth”.
The "Million Trees for the National Environment" campaign was launched at the end of 2024 and is expected to be implemented for 3 years, from 2025 to 2027.
In 2025, the Campaign aims to “Plant trees to green schools”, while encouraging students to live green and healthy. Along with that, raising awareness for the future owners of the country in planting and caring for trees, contributing to environmental protection and responding to climate change.
This activity also aims to create more green areas in schools, not only helping to improve the school space but also helping students grow up with trees, contributing to forming a love and appreciation for nature.
