''I prepared the plan and ideas for my work 4 years ago. Most of the works are carved from driftwood, redwood, and basswood,'' said Mr. Nguyen Truong Tien, the owner of the above work.
Mr. Tien added: ''The difference in the work is that I use rotten wood, buried in rivers and streams. Then I rely on the natural shape of the tree roots to create''.
According to the owner, the image of "Nine Dragons Contending for a Pearl" symbolizes the nine branches of the Mekong River like nine winding dragons.
The average time to complete a sculpture is from 6 months to 1 year. The details are meticulously and carefully sculpted by the artisan.
The work "Nine Fish Jumping Over Five Gates" is 2.7m high and 4.2m wide. Attending this year's Spring Flower Festival, Mr. Tien displayed 10 works related to the theme of the dragon mascot to serve visitors.
The work "Beloved Country" depicts a dragon flying around a map of Vietnam. In addition, the two pearls also symbolize the Hoang Sa and Truong Sa archipelagos.
Some tourists enjoy taking pictures with this giant dragon statue.
The work "Dragon and Fairy's Descendants" is made of dark wood, depicting a map of Vietnam's territory.
Dragon is one of the four sacred animals in feng shui, symbolizing nobility, power and prosperity.
Carp Transforms into Dragon is an image of a school of 9 carp competing to overcome strong and stormy water currents to transform into dragons. The image of carp in the work represents the industriousness of the Vietnamese people.
To serve the needs of visitors, the works are on display until February 15 (the 6th day of Tet) at Tao Dan Park (District 1).
