Senior Singaporean leaders all highly appreciated the significance of General Secretary To Lam's visit and the two countries' upgrading of relations to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, helping to open a new chapter in bilateral relations.
On the afternoon of March 12, within the framework of his official visit to Singapore, General Secretary To Lam had meetings with Singaporean President Tharman Shamugaratnam and Speaker of the Singaporean Parliament Seah Kian Peng.

In particular, President Tharman Shanmugaratnam emphasized that the General Secretary's official visit to Singapore is an activity of special significance.
"Upgrading the relationship to Comprehensive Strategic Partnership opens a new chapter in bilateral relations at a significant time for the two countries, creating new energy and excitement for the people and businesses of the two countries," said Mr. Tharman Shanmugaratnam.
During the meeting with the General Secretary, National Assembly Chairman Seah Kian Peng expressed his delight at welcoming General Secretary To Lam on his first official visit to Singapore, emphasizing that the visit is of great significance to the future development of Vietnam-Singapore relations.
In particular, the two countries' official upgrading of their relationship to Comprehensive Strategic Partnership has made Vietnam Singapore's first Comprehensive Strategic Partner in ASEAN.
According to him, this event is not only a historical milestone in the relationship between the two countries, but also opens up many opportunities for development and cooperation in the future, contributing to the common development of the region.
When mentioning Vietnam, both leaders affirmed that they had good impressions.
Sharing his impressions of Vietnam's rapid development, President Tharman Shanmugaratnam expressed his belief that Vietnam will maintain its position as one of the most dynamic economies in the region, with impressive GDP growth, an attractive investment environment and a constantly improving international position.
Speaker of the National Assembly Seah Kian Peng emphasized that the Singaporean Parliament has a close and good cooperative relationship with the Vietnamese National Assembly through high-level visits.
Mr. Seah Kian Peng emphasized that within the framework of the new relationship, the two sides need to strengthen relations through the channels of the Party, State, National Assembly, people and businesses, creating a foundation and contributing to shaping the relationship between the two countries in the future, actively contributing to the development of friendship, multi-faceted cooperation and the Vietnam - Singapore Comprehensive Strategic Partnership.
At the same time, he affirmed that Singapore is ready to support Vietnam in training human resources.
At the meetings, the General Secretary also discussed major directions and specific measures to implement the newly established Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, including making the two countries pioneering partners in the region in science and technology cooperation, innovation, digital transformation and energy, data connectivity, semiconductor chip manufacturing, new technology, and artificial intelligence.
Agreeing with General Secretary To Lam’s proposal, the Singaporean President suggested that the two sides continue to promote typical cooperation models, further exploit cooperation opportunities in new areas such as digital transformation, carbon credit market; strengthen energy cooperation, connect power grids, including the ASEAN power grid.
Discussing international and regional issues, the two leaders were pleased to see that the two countries share many similarities and have active coordination, have complementary strengths, and strive together to ensure a stable environment and sustainable development in the region.
