For students of majors or schools with higher tuition fees (for example, 60 - 80 million VND/year), or higher accommodation costs (about 20 - 30 million VND/year), the total cost will be up to 140 - 170 million VND/year. On the contrary, if the tuition fees are lower (for example, 20 - 30 million VND/year), the total cost will be about 70 - 80 million VND/year.
Monthly expenses for students also vary depending on economic conditions, circumstances, geography, school, etc. However, excluding tuition fees, most students spend an average of 5 million VND/month or more when studying in Ho Chi Minh City.
Mr. Tran Van Tri, Deputy Head of Student Affairs and Communications Department of Ho Chi Minh City Open University, said that to overcome financial difficulties and complete 4 years of university, students should try to study and practice, achieve good results to have the opportunity to receive many different scholarships. These scholarships will greatly reduce the financial burden.
In addition to the support of the university, Master Pham Thai Son, Director of the Admissions and Communications Center of Ho Chi Minh City University of Industry and Trade, noted that students can take on part-time jobs. Many schools offer part-time jobs for students such as working in the library, teaching assistants, or working at research centers. These jobs not only help you earn extra income but can also supplement experience related to your major.
"In addition, students can find part-time jobs such as tutoring, serving, selling, or online work (freelancer) to earn extra income. However, it is necessary to balance work and study time to ensure good learning results," shared Master Son.
