(Dan Tri) - On the afternoon of January 7, Professor, Dr. Tran Van Thuan, Deputy Minister of Health, visited football player Nguyen Xuan Son at Vinmec Times City Hospital. According to the doctor, the surgery was very successful, and Son will begin rehabilitation in about 2-3 days.

Prof. Dr. Tran Trung Dung, Director of Orthopedic and Musculoskeletal Trauma, Vinmec Healthcare System, said that Son's surgery was successful, but only 1/10 of the way there. In the next stages, doctors will have a specialized rehabilitation program for the athlete. "With weight, the current index is the peak of a football athlete. Therefore, the training, rehabilitation, and nutrition process must ensure that Xuan Son maintains his weight (avoiding weight gain due to sudden reduction in training intensity). A specialized training program and specialized nutrition are calculated for Xuan Son to ensure that the bone healing process recovers quickly, but the muscles are not lost. It is expected that all training processes will be favorable, after 8-9 months, Xuan Son can return to his peak. Currently, Son's health is stable, he can walk on crutches in the room, and it is expected that in 2-3 days he will start the on-site training program, with a time of up to 6-8 hours/day", said Professor Dung. Previously, on the evening of January 5, in the second leg of the AFF Cup 2024 Final between Vietnam and Thailand, player Nguyen Xuan Son was seriously injured and had to leave the field at the beginning of the match. Immediately after being brought to Vinmec Times City International General Hospital yesterday afternoon (January 6), Nguyen Xuan Son was taken to the Department of Diagnostic Imaging for examination. Doctors assessed the broken leg to develop a treatment plan. The doctors performed the surgery that night at Vinmec Times City Hospital . The surgery ended at 9:43 p.m. on January 6. After the surgery, striker number 12 was awake, pain-free, and began to move his toes lightly right after the surgery.
