Cao Pendant Quang Vinh learns Vietnamese, hoping to be on the Vietnam national team

On March 19, Hanoi Police Club announced that it had completed the necessary procedures to naturalize player Jason Quang Vinh Pendant as Vietnamese citizen, taking his mother's Vietnamese name, Cao Pendant Quang Vinh.

One day after receiving the good news, the left-back born in 1997 gave an interview on the capital team's homepage, sharing about his past journey and his wish to have the opportunity to try his hand in the Vietnamese national team's jersey.

Cao Pendant Quang Vinh said: "My family and I are extremely proud to receive Vietnamese citizenship. At that moment, my mother and I cried while exchanging information over the phone.

Every week, I spend 3 sessions learning Vietnamese. I also study by myself using an application on my phone. My Vietnamese is getting better every day.

During the time waiting for the decision to receive citizenship, I was very excited and felt happy that the process ended well.

I love Vietnam. This is a wonderful environment where I live. Vietnamese people are very kind and hospitable. My family and I love the food and the sights in Vietnam."

When asked about his future aspirations, especially with the top goal of every Vietnamese player being to wear the national team jersey, Cao Pendant Quang Vinh shared:

"I am officially Vietnamese. This is a great source of motivation for me to continue to strive on the field. I will show my best performance to prove myself with the goal of being called up to the national team."

Cao Pendant Quang Vinh was born in 1997, 1.77m tall, his father is French and his mother is Vietnamese. His best position is full-back. In the 2023-2024 season, Jason plays in Ligue 2 (France) for Quevilly Rouen Club and has 33 appearances (2,466 minutes of play), 2 assists.

In the 2024 - 2025 season, Pendant Quang Vinh joined the Hanoi Police Club. He quickly became a mainstay on the left wing and made a total of 21 appearances.

After receiving Vietnamese citizenship, Cao Pendant Quang Vinh needs to complete additional documents to change his nationality to compete with FIFA to meet the requirements to play for the Vietnamese national team.
