Opening of Ho Chi Minh City Youth Festival 2025: Affirming the bravery, intelligence and creativity of the young generation

On the evening of March 21, the Ho Chi Minh City Youth Festival (Youth Fest) 2025 was opened at Pham Ngoc Thach Street (District 1) and the Ho Chi Minh City Youth Cultural House.

The torch has been lit, the 5th Ho Chi Minh City Youth Festival with the theme "New Generation - Adaptation - Connection and Sharing" officially entered the jubilant festival over three weekend days (from March 21 to 23).

The festival is directed by the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee and assigned to the City Youth Union - Vietnam Youth Union - Vietnam Student Association - Ho Chi Minh City Young Pioneer Council to coordinate implementation.

Aspiring to be a pioneer in the new era

Along with welcoming thousands of young people and residents of Ho Chi Minh City, the festival also had the participation of delegations from Laos, Cambodia, Malaysia and Singapore.

In his opening speech, Permanent Deputy Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Youth Union Truong Minh Tuoc Nguyen said that the festival is an outstanding cultural event of the city for young people every March.

Through the festival's activities, the movements and activities that have been effectively implemented by the City Youth Union and all levels of the city's Youth Union over the past many years will be clearly reflected and crystallized.

"This is also an opportunity for us to look back on the development, creativity and dedication of the city's young generation," said Mr. Tuoc Nguyen.

With the message "New Generation - Adapt - Connect and Share", through the spaces of this year's festival, activities and events to affirm the bravery, intelligence, creativity and integration of the young generation.

Young people and residents of the city named after Uncle Ho will have the opportunity to immerse themselves in the festival spaces. Specifically, the "Kettle Lamp Corner" space recalls a time associated with the lifestyle, activities and culture of the people of the South, which were also difficult days when the youth and the people fought steadfastly.

The space "Sing for my people" recreates inspirational songs and fighting songs that foster the indomitable spirit of young people during the resistance period.

The space "Five Armies" recalls the historical moment when the forces entered to take over the city, expressing the desire for peace and national unification.

There is also a reenactment of classes at Dinh Mountain, a historical site associated with the revolutionary movement, training steadfast soldiers.

There is also a "Historical Film" space that shows typical films about the country's history and youth.

Mr. Tuoc Nguyen said that 2025 marks the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification Day (April 30). This is an important milestone to look back on the glorious journey.

Thereby strongly affirming the role of the city's youth in fostering, preserving, inheriting and promoting traditional values in the process of protecting, building and developing Ho Chi Minh City.

"This is also an opportunity to spread the aspiration to strive and pioneer in contributing to the overall development of the country in the new era," said Mr. Nguyen.

In addition to celebrating the Union's birthday (March 26), the Ho Chi Minh City Youth Festival 2025 also has a special meaning in celebrating the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification Day (April 30).

Along with the city-level festival, the Youth Unions of districts and Thu Duc City and their affiliated Youth Unions also have response activities.

The opening ceremony featured performances by famous artists and street art performances.

In addition, 1,000 students participated in the flashmob performance "The country is full of joy - The city shines in His name".
