On the afternoon of March 3, U17 Vietnam continued to practice in preparation for the 2025 U17 Asian finals.
The focus of the media is on Thomas Mai Veeren. His other name is Mai Cong Thanh. This player lives in the Netherlands and has a Vietnamese mother. The midfielder, born in 2008, is currently playing for the youth team of HV Quick, a team in the fourth division of the Netherlands.
Overall, Mai Cong Thanh showed good personal skills and played smoothly in the style of Dutch football - where he was trained since childhood. This is the advantage of the young player with mixed Dutch and Vietnamese blood.
Thomas Mai Veeren had some remarkable ball handling in tight spaces. He made it difficult for his teammates to intercept.
However, Thomas Mai Veeren is not really strong partly because of his physical limitations. He is not superior in height and stature compared to domestic players.
Tran Gia Bao also attracted media attention. He is the only player of Vietnam U17 to have scored a goal in V.League. Gia Bao scored for HAGL at the beginning of the season.
During this training session, Coach Roland spent a lot of time talking about the football philosophy that U17 Vietnam is aiming for.
He also took time to directly demonstrate some movements to his students.
The goalkeepers of U17 Vietnam like Thang Long and Xuan Tin have a lot of experience playing in international tournaments.
Coach Cristiano Roland said he is preparing well for Vietnam U17 before this important tournament.
Vietnam U17 team will train in Hanoi for nearly 3 weeks before training in Oman. After that, coach Roland will finalize the list of teams participating in the 2025 AFC U17 Championship.
