Every morning, the bread cart placed at a small corner with the words "free bread - 1 person 1 loaf - for the poor" on Quang Trung Street is a familiar destination for many lottery ticket sellers, motorbike taxi drivers, relatives of patients... The cart is small but enough to warm the hearts of many passersby.
Fulfilling a mother's wish
Born into difficult circumstances, the family of Tran Huu Duc Nhat (44 years old, residing in Hai Chau district, Da Nang city) often received help from many people. More than anyone, Nhat understands the hardships of workers, so when he had the conditions, he and his family were determined to open a free bread cart, serving breakfast to those in need.
"When my family was in difficulty, people often helped us, so when we had the opportunity, while we were still alive, my mother always wished to send some food to those in need. Later, my siblings and I opened a bread cart, both to fulfill my mother's wish while she was still alive and to share with everyone," Nhat shared.
The bread cart was established in 2016, and Mr. Nhat has continued to deliver bread to the poor. Every day, on average, Mr. Nhat delivers about 100 breads with milk pillows to people.

Initially, the funding for opening and maintaining the sandwich cart was provided by him and his family. Later, the sandwich cart became well-known, and many benefactors came to contribute money, hoping to share love with Mr. Nhat to everyone.
Before giving away, Mr. Nhat researched to find a suitable type of bread that could sustain the model for a long time. Initially, he intended to send meatloaf sandwiches to the people, but he thought it would be difficult to ensure food hygiene and safety during the processing. Then, he decided to use milk-based bread because it was easy to eat, vegetarians could still eat it, convenient and easy to preserve.
Give love and receive love
Mr. Nhat's bread cart is only distributed in the morning. At around 6:30, Mr. Nhat will push the cart out in front of the house and arrange the bread in the cupboard for people to pick up. In less than two hours, 100 loaves of bread have been delivered to many people.
For Mr. Nhat, contributing to society brings him happiness. He gives away breads of love and also receives a lot of love from everyone.

"The bread cart has helped me fulfill my mother's wish. I hope this model will spread, be known by many people and help more people. Since having the bread cart, I have received a lot of love. When my father passed away recently, many aunts and uncles who had received bread came to visit, encourage and comfort me, which made me very emotional," Nhat shared.
The bread cart not only accompanies the poor workers, it is also a destination for many patients’ relatives. According to Mr. Nhat, the bread cart is located near the hospital, so every day many patients’ relatives come to receive bread for breakfast.
Taking care of her husband who has kidney disease at Da Nang Hospital, every morning, Mrs. Tuyet (60 years old) often stops by the free bread cart. Mrs. Tuyet said she usually goes early because the bread cart sells out quickly, many days she arrives late and has to go home empty-handed.
"The free loaves of bread have helped my family reduce some of our daily expenses. I am very grateful for the generosity of the donors. For those who have to take care of sick relatives for months like me, that is very precious," said Ms. Tuyet.
