According to Mr. Le Hoai Nam, Deputy Director of the Department of Education and Training of Ho Chi Minh City, the enrollment work for the 2024-2025 school year in Ho Chi Minh City will be carried out online on a single page: https://tuyensinhdaucap.hcm.edu.vn.
Experiences... scary
"Last year, my child entered first grade and it was the first time my family registered for him online. It was an unforgettable time because the whole family couldn't eat or sleep well. The first problem was the wrong identification code for my child. In the next few steps, my husband entered the wrong address and household registration.
Because my child's primary school is quite famous, my husband and I were nervous, afraid that he would fail and have to transfer to another school. When the day the list of successful students was announced, my heart almost dropped out because I could not log in to the system. After a while, my husband called the school and was told that he had entered the wrong address" - Ms. HTD, a parent in Ho Chi Minh City, said.
Similarly, Ms. Huynh Moc, whose child is in 5th grade, expressed her concern: "What I am most concerned about now is how secondary schools in Ho Chi Minh City will recruit 6th grade students.
This year I suggest that there should be specific regulations, requiring parents to follow certain steps. Last year, when my child entered first grade, online registration was quite complicated and cumbersome, especially for students who were not in the school's zone.
The reason is that our parents are not familiar with online enrollment. On the other hand, the enrollment regulations are not clear. My child almost dropped from the first grade list because he was admitted but did not confirm online that he would enroll."
One point of contact
Mr. Le Hoai Nam informed: "Based on last year's results and listening to opinions from educational institutions and parents, this year the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training continues to implement the online primary school enrollment model with comprehensive improvements.
The first is to unify a single admission portal to help people avoid confusion or difficulty in finding information about primary school admissions. The second is to apply GIS maps throughout the city to support the allocation of students to schools in the area.
Using GIS maps aims to help students study at schools near their homes. However, depending on the situation of school allocation in the area, Thu Duc City and districts will have plans and decide to what extent GIS is applied in arranging study places for students.
Mr. Nam explained that online enrollment helps simplify the process. Parents do not need to use many types of documents and papers as before, all will be confirmed through the student's identification code.
Online enrollment will minimize the need to travel back and forth between agencies. Information on regulations, time, enrollment process, and enrollment results are continuously updated in real time, making it easy for people to follow...
However, some secondary schools in Ho Chi Minh City wonder why all districts must unify enrollment at a single address of the department while each district has a different way of doing things?
Not to mention a middle school principal also "revealed": "We just heard the initial information that each school will have to pay 4 million VND to use the city's enrollment address. Although this is not official information, I hope the relevant units will calculate carefully before applying this enrollment fee.
Ho Chi Minh City has more than 2,000 kindergartens, primary schools, and secondary schools, and each school pays 4 million VND, so the total budget for the entrance exam is too large," the principal analyzed.
Mr. Le Hoai Nam:
Avoid being subjective and losing opportunities
Parents need to fully understand the regulations on admission methods, time, subjects... in the admission plan of the Department of Education and Training of Thu Duc City and districts. Avoid subjectivity leading to submitting applications at the wrong time, wrong stage, thereby losing the opportunity to study for students.
In addition, parents should carefully check and verify information about their permanent residence and enrollment data at the school. If there are any errors, they must notify the student's final year of high school or the local education and training department for correction.
This year, the enrollment for grades 1 and 6 will be divided into two phases: Phase 1 will prioritize cases that are actually living locally, based on permanent residence information stored in the enrollment database.
Phase 2 will handle the remaining cases, depending on the remaining quota of each school and the regulations of the Department of Education and Training in the local enrollment plan. Both phases will be conducted online registration on the city's enrollment website.
6 schools expected to enroll 6th grade students by survey
On the afternoon of March 27, reporting on the enrollment of 6th grade students for the 2024-2025 school year at a working session with the Culture - Society Committee of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Council, Mr. Le Hoai Nam said that in the 2024-2025 school year, Ho Chi Minh City is expected to have 6 schools enrolling 6th grade students using a competency assessment test.
Specifically, Tran Quoc Toan 1 Secondary School, Thu Duc City; Hoa Lu Secondary School, Thu Duc City; Binh Tho Secondary School, Thu Duc City; Nguyen Huu Tho Secondary School, District 7; Nguyen An Khuong Secondary School, Hoc Mon District; Tran Dai Nghia Secondary - High School, District 1 (planned - project under construction).
According to Mr. Nam, the above 6 schools are considered advanced schools - international integration or schools with students registering for grade 6 exceeding the enrollment quota.
Regarding the reason for expanding the survey to enroll 6th graders in the 2024-2025 school year, Mr. Nam informed that based on the consolidated document 03/VBHN-BGDĐT dated May 3, 2019 of the Ministry of Education and Training, from the 2023-2024 school year, the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee allows conducting surveys to enroll 6th graders in schools that are classified as: advanced schools - international integration; schools with students registering for 6th grade enrollment exceeding the enrollment quota.
Of which, Tran Quoc Toan 1 Secondary School (Thu Duc City) has implemented it since 2023. This year, localities continue to expand this form.
