Admission to grade 6 at "hot" schools is a top concern for many parents with children in elementary school.
With the increasing number of students, 6th graders in big cities are more stressed as parents want to find opportunities for their children to attend high-quality public schools with the advantages of low tuition fees, high investment in facilities, and prestigious teaching staff.
In Hanoi, in 2024, when Hanoi - Amsterdam High School for the Gifted stopped enrolling 6th graders, parents and students were very disappointed because after 5 years of preparing to invest in their children to get into this school, they now lost the opportunity.
"With my child's academic ability, he can only apply to high-quality schools such as Thanh Xuan Secondary School, Cau Giay Secondary School... But because he no longer enrolls 6th graders at Hanoi - Amsterdam High School for the Gifted, schools such as Cau Giay, Thanh Xuan, Le Quy Don... have increased the level of competition, making my child's chances of getting into top schools even slimmer, while he has spent a lot of effort studying and reviewing" - Mr. Ngo The Toan, a parent whose child is studying at Phan Chu Trinh Primary School (Ba Dinh, Hanoi) shared.
Therefore, when the decision to establish the Gifted Secondary School of the Hanoi National University of Education was made, parents and students immediately searched for information about the training model and enrollment method of this school when according to regulations, there is no specialized system at the secondary level and specialized schools are not allowed to have non-specialized classes.
In response to this concern, a representative of Hanoi National University of Education said that this is not a specialized school or a specialized high school, but was established to foster and promote talents as the school's name suggests. It is known that the school will officially enroll students for the 2025-2026 school year and announce enrollment before March 31, 2025.

To meet the high demand of people who want their children to study at Tran Dai Nghia Junior High School - High School, the Department of Education and Training of Ho Chi Minh City has soon announced the enrollment method for the 2025-2026 school year of this school as well as some local junior high schools that can conduct admission based on a combination of 2 criteria including training and learning results in primary school years and the results of the capacity assessment survey. In particular, local junior high schools must simultaneously meet 2 requirements: Having a number of candidates registering exceeding the enrollment quota in recent years and being proposed by the People's Committee of Thu Duc City, districts and towns.
According to Mr. Nguyen Thai Vinh Nguyen, Head of the Department of Education and Training of Thu Duc City, there will be 3 secondary schools in the area that will recruit 6th grade students by the capacity assessment test, including: Tran Quoc Toan 1 Secondary School, Binh Tho, Hoa Lu. The admission requirements are that all students who have completed primary school and wish to study in 6th grade in Thu Duc City, have an average score at the end of the year in Math and Vietnamese of 9 or higher. Students who take the test at any school will contact and submit their application at that school and can only register and submit their application at one secondary school.
In Hanoi, in response to the hopes of many parents and students about re-enrollment of the secondary school system of Hanoi - Amsterdam High School for the Gifted, Director of the Hanoi Department of Education and Training Tran The Cuong said that, along with waiting for guidance from the Capital Law, Hanoi can study the proposal to establish a secondary school in Chu Van An High School for the Gifted as well as a secondary school in Hanoi - Amsterdam High School for the Gifted.
