Resuscitating 2 cases of myocardial infarction in a row

On the evening of February 6, doctors at 108 Central Military Hospital admitted a 67-year-old male patient (Bac Ninh) with severe left chest pain.

Previously, when being treated at the provincial general hospital, doctors diagnosed the patient with a heart attack and had low blood pressure, slow heart rate, and was in critical condition, so he was immediately transferred to the 108 Military Central Hospital. Here, the patient was treated with emergency percutaneous coronary angiography and stent placement to re-open the coronary artery.

Doctors treat a case of cerebral infarction.

Two hours later, the on-call team continued to receive a 53-year-old male patient from Bac Ninh with severe chest pain. Immediately, the on-call team performed a cardiac catheterization and placed a stent to widen the coronary artery.

Immediately after hemodynamic intervention, both patients had stable hemodynamics, no more chest pain, and improved symptoms right on the intervention table.

Treatment of 3 cases of cerebral infarction

After that, the doctors received 3 consecutive cases of cerebral infarction with complex lesions and locations.

The first case was a 70-year-old male patient (Thanh Hoa) admitted to the hospital at the 7th hour of illness with difficulty speaking, swallowing disorder, nausea and rapidly declining consciousness. The stroke team was alerted and diagnosed the patient with acute cerebral infarction due to vertebrobasilar artery occlusion, with the prognosis predicted to progress rapidly and very severely.

The patient was quickly treated with thrombolysis of the entire posterior vertebral artery system and stent placement in the right vertebral artery. After the intervention, the patient continued to be monitored and treated at the Stroke Department.

Then there is a typical case of cerebral infarction. This patient is 84 years old (from Nam Dinh), was admitted to the hospital with difficulty speaking, rapid loss of consciousness, and hemiplegia. The patient was diagnosed with cerebral infarction due to occlusion of the basilar artery. After that, the patient underwent thrombosis intervention to restore cerebral circulation.

The third case of cerebral infarction was a male patient (79 years old, from Ha Nam) who was admitted to the hospital in a daze, with complete paralysis of the right half of his body. Doctors re-opened the cerebral artery using mechanical devices. With this method, the patient does not need to undergo surgery but can still treat complex lesions in the cerebral blood vessels in a minimally invasive, safe and effective way.

Dr. Pham Minh Tuan, Department of Vascular Diagnosis and Intervention, 108 Central Military Hospital, said that stroke and myocardial infarction are extremely dangerous diseases that can affect the life and quality of life of patients. Disease prevention is still the top priority, such as good control of underlying diseases: atrial fibrillation, high blood pressure, obesity, lipid disorders. Patients need to go to medical centers immediately when having unusual symptoms such as difficulty speaking, weakness, impaired consciousness, chest pain... to be diagnosed and treated promptly to avoid dangerous complications.

"With the extreme and erratic weather conditions as recently, it is also a risk factor for increasing the rate of patients with stroke and myocardial infarction, so people need to pay attention to keeping warm, avoiding sudden temperature changes; and following the instructions and prescriptions of doctors," Dr. Tuan recommended.
