Specifically, in a report sent to the State Securities Commission, Ms. Nguyen Thuy Tien said she had bought 6 million VTR shares of Vietnam Tourism and Transport Marketing Joint Stock Company - Vietravel.
Before the above transaction, investor Nguyen Thuy Tien did not hold any VTR shares. After the transaction, Ms. Tien increased her ownership ratio from 0% to 20.94%.
Notably, investor Thuy Tien was not allowed to explain that she held any position at the company nor had any relationship with individuals or organizations related to Vietravel.
At the same time, a major shareholder of Vietravel, Hung Thinh Corporation, sold the exact number of shares that Ms. Tien bought (6 million shares).
After the transaction, Hung Thinh Corporation reduced its ownership ratio to 0%, meaning it withdrew all investment capital in Viettravel.
Currently on the stock market, VTR's market price is at 22,500 VND/share, down 11% in the past week. At this price, the estimated value of the 6 million shares traded above is about 135 billion VND.
However, on March 13, the HNX system recorded the value of VTR's negotiated transaction with 6 million units worth 169 billion VND.
Notably, after the above "handover" deal, Ms. Nguyen Thuy Tien, with holding nearly 21% of VTR's capital, replaced Hung Thinh Group to become the largest shareholder of Vietravel.
While the chairman of the board of directors, Nguyen Quoc Ky, holds more than 3.2 million shares, equivalent to 10.96%, or Vietravel Group holds 14.29%, both are lower than the number held by Ms. Tien.
