Gold prices plummet

Domestic gold price today March 22, 2025

As of 4:30 a.m. on March 22, at large enterprises such as SJC, PNJ and DOJI, the price of SJC gold bars was listed at VND94.7 million/tael for buying and VND97.7 million/tael for selling. Compared to yesterday, the buying price decreased by VND3.1 million, while the selling price decreased by VND2.1 million.

Bao Tin Minh Chau Company also sharply reduced the price of Rong Thang Long brand gold bars. The buying price decreased by VND2.4 million to VND96.2 million/tael, while the selling price was VND98.8 million/tael, a decrease of VND1.6 million.

At 4:30 a.m., the price of 9999 round gold rings also plummeted similarly. SJC listed the buying price at 94.6 million VND/tael and the selling price at 97.3 million VND/tael, down 3.1 and 2.4 million VND respectively compared to yesterday.

Other companies such as DOJI and PNJ keep the buying and selling price of gold rings higher than SJC by about 1.5 million VND/tael.

In Hanoi, the atmosphere of gold trading has also changed significantly. Unlike yesterday's crowded scene of jostling to buy gold, this afternoon many people brought gold to sell.

According to records, 7 out of 10 people entering the store are gold sellers. Some stores even ask customers to come back the following week to receive their money because they are out of cash.

World gold price today 3/22/2025

In the international market, the world spot gold price reached 3,011.06 USD/ounce, down 29.61 USD/ounce compared to the previous session. After soaring to a new peak, the gold price fell rapidly due to profit-taking activities. Part of the reason came from positive production data in the US and the decision of the Bank of England to keep interest rates unchanged.

FXTM's Lukman Otunuga said that if gold falls below $3,030 an ounce, the downtrend could continue. However, he still maintains that gold has room to rise, with the next resistance level at $3,100 an ounce.

Some other experts also believe that gold prices will continue to increase in the long term. They believe that if the US Federal Reserve (FED) actually cuts interest rates as predicted, gold will continue to be supported.

Meanwhile, the USD maintained its upward momentum with the USD-Index reaching 104.01 points. The yield on 10-year US Treasury bonds stood at 4.248%. The US stock market recovered after the FED announced its roadmap to lower interest rates, while oil prices also increased slightly.

Despite short-term fluctuations, analysts say gold remains a popular investment channel amid global economic risks. However, investors should be cautious in the face of strong corrections like the current one.
