Ba Ria-Vung Tau organizes training for officials on human rights work

On September 28, the Human Rights Steering Committee of Ba Ria - Vung Tau province coordinated with the Government's Standing Office on Human Rights to organize a training conference on human rights work in Ba Ria - Vung Tau province in 2023.

Speaking at the opening of the conference, Mr. Dang Minh Thong, Head of the Steering Committee for Human Rights of Ba Ria-Vung Tau province, emphasized that this is an important conference to foster knowledge, raise awareness and responsibility of all levels, sectors, social organizations and especially key officials directly directing, advising and implementing human rights work in the province.

At the conference, delegates were presented by reporters from the Department of Legislation of the Ministry of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs, the Government Committee for Religious Affairs, and the Government's Standing Office for Human Rights on the topics: "Labor rights according to Vietnam's international labor commitments"; "Ensuring freedom of belief and religion".

The reporters provided a lot of new, basic information on human rights issues and the viewpoints and policies of our Party and State on ensuring labor rights, freedom of belief and religion; Vietnam's responsibility in implementing international commitments and conventions... Providing information on activities that take advantage of democracy, human rights, ethnicity, and religion to sabotage the Party and State, associated with each specific characteristic; sharing experiences in combating activities that take advantage of human rights issues in the new situation.

In recent times, in Ba Ria-Vung Tau province, there have been no complicated incidents or issues that create “hot spots” or cause negative public opinion. The implementation of social security policies, ensuring people’s rights, freedom of belief and religion has been focused on, social protection work, protection of children and vulnerable groups, and meritorious people have achieved many positive results.

Conference overview.

In her closing speech at the conference, Colonel Tran Thi Kim Phung, Deputy Director of the Provincial Police Department and Deputy Head of the Provincial Human Rights Steering Committee, emphasized that in the coming time, ensuring human rights and combating sabotage activities is a regular, continuous, long-term task that requires the participation of the entire political system, in which the Human Rights Steering Committee plays a very important role, is the core force, and determines the success of human rights work in the province.

Therefore, departments, branches, sectors, People's Committees of districts and cities, especially member agencies of the Steering Committee, need to focus on implementing aspects of work to protect and fight for human rights in the following areas: Deploying and implementing specific solutions to protect and promote human rights; Strengthening information and propaganda work on human rights and fighting against plots and activities that take advantage of democracy and human rights issues to sabotage Vietnam, especially in cyberspace.

Recently, the Government's Permanent Office for Human Rights has organized training conferences in many localities across the country to update new information and new policies related to the field of human rights protection.
