
The Standing Committee of the Ba Ria - Vung Tau Provincial Party Committee has just held a review of 3 years of implementing Directive 35-CT/TU on strengthening the Party's leadership in judicial reform and 5 years of implementing Directive 13-CT/TU on corruption prevention and control in the province.
After 3 years of implementing Directive 35-CT/TU, judicial reform in Ba Ria - Vung Tau has achieved many important results. The apparatus is streamlined, operating effectively, the rate of solving serious cases is over 93%. Propaganda and dissemination of law has been promoted with more than 44,180 cadres and party members participating in the study, reaching a rate of over 96%.
According to Le Hoang Hai, Head of the Internal Affairs Committee of Ba Ria - Vung Tau Provincial Party Committee, Party organizations, agencies and units have proactively issued action plans and programs suitable to reality. The dissemination of law has been carried out synchronously with close coordination between functional agencies. There have been 28 conferences to disseminate the law with the participation of 5,400 people, along with thousands of documents and leaflets compiled and distributed.

The apparatus of judicial agencies continues to be consolidated, ensuring effective operation. Currently, the Provincial Police have 562 positions; the People's Procuracy has 165/187 positions; the People's Court has 210/224 positions; the Civil Judgment Enforcement Agency has 110/113 positions; the Department of Justice has 83 personnel. Training and fostering of cadres is also focused on, with more than 600 judicial cadres and civil servants receiving specialized training.
In addition, the work of preventing and combating corruption continues to achieve many clear changes. According to Deputy Head of the Provincial Party Committee's Internal Affairs Commission Vo Tai Quoc, in the 5 years of implementing Directive 13-CT/TU, the Inspection Sector has conducted 215 socio-economic inspections, 59 inspections of 150 individuals, transferred 2 cases to the investigation agency, recovered more than 22.7 billion VND and 767m2 of land. The Provincial Party Committee's Standing Committee has disciplined 2 party organizations and 14 party members; the Inspection Committee has disciplined 9 organizations and 39 party members.
Investigation, prosecution and trial of corruption cases continue to be strengthened. In the past 5 years, the prosecution agencies have initiated and investigated 35 cases with 100 defendants; prosecuted 28 cases with 145 defendants; and tried 39 cases with 178 defendants. Thanks to close coordination between functional agencies, the recovery of corrupt assets has achieved positive results, with nearly 100 billion VND and more than 22,000m² of land recovered.

According to Nguyen Thi Yen, Standing Deputy Secretary of the Ba Ria - Vung Tau Provincial Party Committee, agencies, departments and branches need to continue to effectively carry out key tasks according to Directive 35-CT/TU and Directive 13-CT/TU. In particular, it is necessary to focus on resolving long-standing backlog cases, increasing citizen reception, handling land complaints, promoting the application of information technology in judicial activities, and improving the effectiveness of legal dissemination work.
Regarding the work of preventing and combating corruption, the Standing Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee requested Party committees, Party organizations, authorities, heads of agencies and units to continue to thoroughly grasp and strictly implement the Party's guidelines and the State's policies and laws. At the same time, strengthen supervision and control of power, improve the effectiveness of supervision by People's Councils at all levels, as well as the role of social criticism by the Fatherland Front and socio-political organizations.
These drastic solutions will contribute to improving the effectiveness of judicial reform and anti-corruption, continuing to affirm the strictness of the law, and strengthening people's trust.
