In the first months of 2023, over 4,000 athletes competed in 11 provincial-level sports tournaments, such as: Sports Festival for Workers, Civil Servants, and Laborers to celebrate the Party - celebrate the Spring of Quy Mao 2023; Sports Festival of the Culture, Sports and Tourism sector of An Giang province; Olympic Running Day for the health of all people; The first Border Culture and Sports Festival/2023; Swimming and diving competition and the launching ceremony for the whole population to practice swimming...

In addition, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism coordinated with units and localities to organize many sports activities to celebrate the 135th anniversary of President Ton Duc Thang's birthday (August 20, 1888 - August 20, 2023); 78 years of the August Revolution (August 19, 1945 - August 19, 2023), and National Day of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam (September 2, 1945 - September 2, 2023). Typically, An Giang province hosted competitions in 5 sports in the 9th Mekong Delta Sports Festival in 2023, including: Taekwondo, traditional martial arts, Canoeing, athletics and weightlifting, with the participation of 13 units.
High-performance sports continue to be consolidated, maintaining strengths in strong sports, improving the quality of some potential sports. The provincial sports sector regularly reviews and screens to build a force of athletes with depth and good professional quality. In particular, focusing on selecting and finding truly excellent factors, investing in key areas, aiming for high achievements in national and international sports competitions.
Currently, high-performance sports are competing at the 9th Mekong Delta Sports Festival/2023. Attending this festival, An Giang sports delegation has 255 athletes (166 men, 89 women), participating in 17/27 sports, including: Taekwondo, Boxing, Bodybuilding and Fitness, Traditional Martial Arts, Kick-boxing, U.20 men's football, Canoeing, Weightlifting, Athletics, U.21 basketball, Cross-country, Jujitsu, Billiards, Archery, Vovinam, Swimming, Karate. With careful preparation, An Giang sports are determined to achieve the best results.
For regional and national tournaments, the sports sector coordinated with the People's Committee of Chau Doc City , Tinh Bien Town and the Vietnam Cycling - Motorbike Sports Federation to organize the 28th National Youth Road and Off-Road Cycling Championship in 2023. The tournament gathered 190 athletes from all over the country, competing in the following events: Individual scoring; individual time; team time; individual speed and speed duo; individual and team start in line; individual cross country; relay cross country...
Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of An Giang Nguyen Khanh Hiep informed: “In the coming time, the provincial sports sector will continue to develop diverse forms of organizing sports training and competitions at the grassroots level; socialize and diversify resources to invest in facilities and human resources for sports development; organize many sports tournaments to meet the health training needs of the people.
