Along with the UNESCO certificate ceremony, An Giang also officially opened the Via Ba Chua Xu Festival of Sam Mountain in 2025. This is a traditional festival, imbued with the cultural identity of An Giang, held annually from the 22nd to the 27th of the fourth lunar month, attracting millions of visitors from all over the country. According to the Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism (VH-TT&DL) Nguyen Khanh Hiep, the program of the ceremony to receive the UNESCO certificate recognizing the Via Ba Chua Xu Festival of Sam Mountain as an Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity and the opening ceremony of the 2025 festival is expected to take place from 8-9:30 p.m. on March 19 at the Sam Mountain National Tourist Area.

“The Provincial People's Committee is the agency in charge of organizing. Coordinating units include: National Commission for UNESCO in Vietnam; Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism; Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism coordinates with Chau Doc City People's Committee and related units to implement. The program will be broadcast live on Vietnam Television (VTV), An Giang Radio and Television and regional television stations... The program is expected to have the following contents: Dramatization; ceremony to receive the certificate of recognition, video clip introducing the process of building the dossier to submit to UNESCO; drumming to open the festival and special art programs" - Mr. Nguyen Khanh Hiep informed.

Focus on special programs

General Director Khoa Nguyen (Ho Chi Minh City) said that many famous artists and singers are expected to perform at the ceremony, such as: People's Artist Bach Tuyet, People's Artist Ta Minh Tam, famous singer Ngoc Son, singers Phuong Thanh, Hien Thuc, Ung Hoang Phuc; Provincial Cultural and Art Center, Chau Doc City Cultural Center... With their love for their homeland and country, singers, artists, and actors will bring unique singing, dancing, and theatrical performances, recreating traditional cultural values, praising the beauty of their homeland An Giang in particular and Vietnam in general.

Mr. Huynh Huu Tai (Director of Tan Huu Tai Company, the unit implementing the ceremony program) said: “We have experience in organizing many large ceremonies, anniversaries of the country, many localities in the country, typically the art program celebrating the 1,000th anniversary of Thang Long - Hanoi... Prepare carefully

Standing Vice Chairman of Chau Doc City People's Committee Tran Quoc Tuan said that the locality will coordinate with the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, provincial departments, branches, and relevant units to well implement logistics, programs, detailed scripts for the ceremony, urban planning, festival decorations, etc. Coordinate with the provincial police and functional forces to ensure security, order, and traffic safety before, during, and after the ceremony. "Chau Doc will review all preparations, closely coordinate with relevant units, and ensure that the ceremony program takes place thoughtfully, solemnly, and safely," informed comrade Tran Quoc Tuan.

Alternate member of the Party Central Committee, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the An Giang Provincial People's Committee Ho Van Mung emphasized that the fact that the Ba Chua Xu Festival of Sam Mountain was recognized by UNESCO as an Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity is a testament to the unique and special cultural values ​​of the festival. At the same time, this is also an international recognition of Vietnam's efforts in preserving and promoting traditional cultural values.

This is an opportunity for An Giang people in particular and the whole country in general to review the good traditional cultural values, promote the image of the country and Vietnamese people to international friends.
