VIMC aims to become one of the leading maritime corporations in the region. |
In 2024, the world economy faces many unpredictable fluctuations, from escalating geopolitical conflicts in many regions, to instability in the shipping market due to the crisis in the Red Sea and the risk of supply chain disruption.
This context poses many challenges for businesses, especially in the maritime sector. However, with the spirit of "Overcoming the waves, reaching far", VIMC has demonstrated its strong resilience and adaptability, achieving impressive business results. Key indicators such as maritime transport output, port cargo throughput, revenue and profit all exceeded the set plan.
Seaport operations continue to be a solid pillar in VIMC's business picture, with cargo throughput reaching 145.3 million tons, exceeding the 2024 plan by 17%, affirming VIMC's leading position in the industry.
Notably, joint venture ports such as CMIT and SSIT recorded growth rates that exceeded the national average. The ports of Da Nang, Quy Nhon, SSIT and CMIT also continuously welcomed new container service routes, contributing to increased output and revenue.
Although the fleet capacity has decreased due to restructuring, thanks to promoting outsourcing activities in many forms and actively implementing multi-voyage contracts - COA, the maritime transport output has been compensated and far exceeded the plan assigned at the beginning of the year. By the end of 2024, VIMC's maritime transport output will reach 19.4 million tons, exceeding the plan by 17%.
To achieve this result, VIMC has demonstrated its acumen in monitoring and adjusting business strategies according to market fluctuations, helping to maintain operational efficiency even when facing many challenges in freight rates and operating costs.
In addition, VIMC has optimized its existing fleet, liquidated old vessels and invested in new vessels in a reasonable manner, taking advantage of market advantages. Thanks to that, the fleet is always guaranteed to be in the best operating condition, contributing significantly to increasing revenue and profit.
2024 also marks important steps forward in the field of investment and building strategic alliances to enhance competitiveness.
The Container Terminal No. 3 and 4 project at Lach Huyen Port has completed negotiations and signed a cooperation agreement with partner MSC/TIL, creating a premise for stronger development in the future. The Can Gio International Transit Port project has also made positive progress with the signing of a joint venture agreement (JVA), laying the foundation for the development of an international cargo transit center and increasing Vietnam's position on the regional maritime map.
In addition, VIMC has strongly implemented innovation initiatives, with 2,300 initiatives successfully applied in 2024, bringing an estimated value of nearly VND 52 billion. The standardization of 32 SOP processes in the fields of administration, exploitation and customer service has significantly improved operational efficiency and enhanced service quality. This is a solid foundation for VIMC to step into the digital era.
Understanding that human resources are the core factor of sustainable success, VIMC has promoted human resource training and development. Internal training courses and international training programs are widely deployed, helping to improve the professional capacity and skills of staff. This not only improves the quality of staff, but also encourages the spirit of solidarity, attachment and dedication of the staff to the development of the Corporation.
By the end of 2024, VIMC had exceeded its plan in both revenue and profit. Consolidated revenue reached VND 18,202 billion (135% of the 2024 plan), of which the parent company's revenue reached VND 3,039 billion (126% of the 2024 plan). VIMC's total profit reached VND 4,940 billion (137% of the 2024 plan), an increase of 192% over the same period in 2023.
These achievements have been recognized by prestigious rating organizations. VIMC continues to lead the title of Top 10 prestigious companies in the logistics industry, freight transport group for 2 consecutive years. In particular, for the first time, VIMC was honored as Top 10 Golden Star Enterprises of Vietnam in 2024. This is a worthy recognition for the efforts of the Board of Directors and all employees.
With the results achieved in 2024, VIMC has laid a solid foundation for a new development phase, especially preparing to celebrate its 30th anniversary (April 29, 1995 - April 29, 2025). With the slogan "Overcoming the waves, reaching far - Entering the new era", VIMC not only affirms its position in the Vietnamese maritime industry, but also aims to become one of the leading maritime corporations in the region.
