This is one of the activities within the framework of the comprehensive cooperation program for the period 2024 - 2028 between the People's Committee of Son La province and Vietnam Airlines Corporation. Strawberries that ensure quality and food hygiene and safety according to VIETGAP standards will be provided to serve passengers on flights of the National Airline.
The Center for Investment, Trade and Tourism Promotion of Son La province has coordinated with the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development and the People's Committee of Mai Son district to select typical cooperatives such as Xuan Que Strawberry Cooperative and ICHI FAM Strawberry Cooperative to introduce and provide qualified products on Vietnam Airlines flights.
Fresh, quality strawberries are processed by Noi Bai Aviation Catering Joint Stock Company (NCS) into many attractive dishes such as fresh strawberries, strawberry mousse cake, strawberry yogurt, strawberry tea to serve passengers on some domestic flights and international flights to Europe, Australia, America, Korea, and Japan.

Vice Chairman of Son La Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Thanh Cong said: "The fact that Son La strawberry products become meals for passengers on each Vietnam Airlines flight is an opportunity to continue affirming the quality and brand of the province's agricultural products; thereby promoting and introducing Son La agricultural products in particular, and Vietnamese agricultural products in general, to friends around the world."
Bringing Son La strawberries on flights not only gives passengers an experience with local agricultural products but is also part of Vietnam Airlines' sustainable development plan. The national airline constantly searches for and selects high-quality products from regions to introduce to passengers, contributing to promoting agricultural product consumption and socio-economic development in localities.
Along with that, Vietnam Airlines transports Son La strawberries on its flights to provinces and cities across the country. Accordingly, in the strawberry seasons from 2023 to now, more than 2.2 thousand tons have been transported by Vietnam Airlines, accounting for more than 92% of the market share.
Currently, Son La province has over 740 hectares of strawberry cultivation, with an expected output of over 9,360 tons this year. Photo: VNA
Son La strawberries are grown in greenhouses, hydroponics and drip irrigation systems, helping to improve quality and productivity. In particular, the Japanese Hana strawberry variety is currently being widely grown, providing sweet, fragrant fruit that is highly appreciated by consumers. Son La strawberry products are also being registered for certification trademark protection, contributing to enhancing brand value and expanding the consumer market.
Previously, Vietnam Airlines has repeatedly brought the best Vietnamese fruits on board each flight, such as Hung Yen longan, Son La plum, Luc Ngan lychee (Bac Giang), Cao Phong orange (Hoa Binh), Vietnamese coffee, etc. Through these cooperation programs, Vietnam Airlines affirms its role as a bridge between regions, contributing to bringing Vietnamese agricultural products closer to domestic and international consumers.
