On the evening of July 11, according to information from the Ministry of Education and Training, all 6 Vietnamese students participating in the 2023 International Mathematics Olympiad won medals (including 2 gold medals, 2 silver medals and 2 bronze medals). With this achievement, Vietnam ranked 6th out of 112 countries and territories participating in the Olympics.
Specifically, the two students who won gold medals were: Pham Viet Hung, Class 12A1, High School for the Gifted in Natural Sciences, University of Natural Sciences, Vietnam National University, Hanoi and Nguyen An Thinh, Class 12 IT, Tran Phu High School for the Gifted, Hai Phong.

The two students who won silver medals were: Hoang Tuan Dung, Grade 12 Math 1, Hanoi National University of Education High School for the Gifted, and Nguyen Dinh Kien, Grade 11 Math, Tran Phu High School for the Gifted, Hai Phong. The two students who won bronze medals were Khuc Dinh Toan, Grade 12 Math, Bac Ninh High School for the Gifted, and Tran Nguyen Thanh Danh, Grade 12 Math, High School for the Gifted, Ho Chi Minh City National University. The 2023 International Mathematical Olympiad was held in Japan from July 2 to 12 with the participation of 625 contestants from 112 countries and territories. The organizing committee awarded 315 medals, including: 53 gold medals, 89 silver medals, 173 bronze medals, accounting for 50% of the total number of contestants. With a total of 6 medals, the Vietnamese delegation ranked 6th, after China, the US, South Korea, Romania and host country Japan.The excellent ranking of the Vietnamese national team at the 2023 International Mathematical Olympiad has continued to affirm the position of Vietnamese education in the top intellectual arena, affirming the right direction of teaching, training, and selecting excellent students.
