Vietnam - Singapore promote experience exchange connecting people and government

According to a VNA correspondent in Singapore, on November 13, the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on the Exchange Program with the People's Association (PA) of Singapore, under which the two sides agreed to strengthen cooperation and exchange experiences in the 2024-2026 period.

Speaking at the signing ceremony, Mr. Jimmy Toh - PA Executive Director - emphasized that the signing of the MOU by both sides is a very meaningful activity because the related contents are aimed at the interests of the community and the people; the contents discussed by both sides during the working session in Vietnam in 2023 have been included in this MOU and it is hoped that through the exchange of delegations, the two sides will coordinate more effectively, thereby improving the effectiveness of the two sides' activities and doing more meaningful work for the community.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Thu Ha, Member of the Party Central Committee, Vice President - General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front, emphasized that in this working program, the delegation had the opportunity to visit and exchange experiences at the NACLI Academy and the Punggol Community Center. Ms. Nguyen Thi Thu Ha hopes that the two sides will well implement the important points in the MOU, thereby contributing to the people-to-people relations between the two countries as well as the increasingly good relations between Vietnam and Singapore.

Following the achievements of cooperation between the two organizations under the MOU dated February 25, 2022, the two sides agreed to continue signing the MOU for the period of 2024-2026 to further strengthen and promote friendship, understanding and cooperation between the two organizations according to the functions and tasks of the two sides, in accordance with the regulations and laws of each country and international treaties to which each country is a member, contributing to the development of the strategic partnership between the two countries, towards a comprehensive strategic partnership in the coming time for the common interests of both sides. The cooperation contents include: Exchange and sharing of experiences (on connection, community building, self-management, solidarity, mutual assistance, mobilizing people to participate in social management; acting as a bridge between the people and the Government); Support training and fostering skills in connection and community building; Learn about the culture, image and people of each country through holidays to promote the good historical and cultural values ​​of Vietnam and Singapore to the people of the two countries; Cooperate in other areas of mutual interest, ensuring compliance with the laws and international commitments of each side.

According to the newly signed MOU, various forms of cooperation such as high-level delegation exchanges, short-term “Training of Trainers” visits, coordination and mutual support in multilateral forums, exchange of documents and publications on social management and community building, etc., will help both sides improve the quality of experience exchange as well as strengthen ties. The two sides agreed to evaluate the implementation of this MOU after 2 years and work together to find solutions to strengthen and improve the effectiveness of cooperation.

PA is a statutory body of Singapore established on 1 July 1960. PA's mission is to inspire and nurture community participation for a united and caring Singapore. PA's network comprises 2,000 Grassroots Organisations (GROs), over 100 Community Clubs and many others.

Earlier on the same day, Ms. Nguyen Thi Thu Ha and other members of the delegation visited the Vietnamese Embassy in Singapore. Here, Ms. Nguyen Thi Thu Ha presented a letter of thanks from the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front to the Vietnamese Embassy and the Vietnamese community in Singapore, and to the family of Associate Professor Vu Minh Khuong for supporting the people affected by storm No. 3. This is the recognition and gratitude of the Vietnam Fatherland Front for the meaningful and deeply emotional contributions of the cadres and the Vietnamese community in Singapore for the people in the country, and is also an effective step in practicing "people-to-people exchange" of the Vietnam Fatherland Front towards the Vietnamese community in Singapore, a community that gathers many intellectuals and highly qualified labor force, with the potential to make great and quality contributions to the cause of national unity and national development.
