On March 10, the exhibition with the themes "Hoang Sa, Truong Sa - Sacred Sea and Islands" and "Heroic Vietnam People's Navy - 70 years of journey to protect the sea" was opened at Brigade 171 of the Navy (Vung Tau City, Ba Ria - Vung Tau Province).
The exhibitions were organized by the State Records and Archives Department in coordination with the Navy Region 2 Command, to practically celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification (April 30, 1975 - April 30, 2025); the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of Truong Sa Archipelago (April 29, 1975 - April 29, 2025) and the 70th anniversary of the founding of the Vietnam People's Navy (May 7, 1955 - May 7, 2025).
The exhibitions introduced nearly 200 valuable documents, maps, and images stored at the Vietnam National Archives Center, the Vietnam Military History Museum, the Navy Museum, and documents collected from the Archives and National Libraries of France and the United States... and some typical images of the Vietnam People's Navy over 70 years of building, fighting, and growing.
In particular, the exhibitions publish for the first time many documents in the National Archives of Vietnam from the 19th century to the present, including the Royal Records and Woodblocks of the Nguyen Dynasty, which have been recognized by UNESCO as World Documentary Heritage.
In addition, some maps drawn by Western countries about Asia, the East Sea region, published from the 17th to the 20th century, show the Hoang Sa and Truong Sa archipelagos with the international name Pracel or Paracels belonging to the territory of the country of An Nam (Vietnam)...
With authentic, objective and specific historical evidence, the exhibition contributes to educating patriotism, fostering love for the homeland, sea and islands. From there, raising the sense of responsibility to protect the sacred sovereignty of the sea and islands of the Fatherland for cadres, soldiers and the masses, arousing the aspiration to develop a prosperous and happy country.
At the same time, it will continue to strongly affirm Vietnam's sovereignty over the Hoang Sa and Truong Sa archipelagos. In particular, it will contribute to propagating and raising awareness of officers, soldiers and people in provinces and cities where agencies and units of Naval Region 2 are stationed about their sense of responsibility in protecting the sacred sovereignty of the sea and islands of the Fatherland.
