(To Quoc) - The total number of international visitors in the first 5 months of 2024 reached nearly 7.6 million, an increase of 64.9% over the same period in 2023 and an increase of 3.9% over the same period in 2019 - the time before the Covid-19 pandemic.

According to the Tourism Information Center (Vietnam National Administration of Tourism), in May 2024, the number of international tourists to Vietnam reached nearly 1.4 million, an increase of 51% over the same period last year.

The total number of international visitors in the first 5 months of 2024 reached nearly 7.6 million, an increase of 64.9% over the same period in 2023. Notably, the total number of international visitors in the first 5 months of this year increased by 3.9% compared to the pre-pandemic period, showing a positive recovery of Vietnam's tourism.

The number of domestic tourists in May 2024 reached 12 million, of which about 8 million were staying. The number of domestic tourists in the first 5 months of 2024 reached 52.5 million. Total revenue from tourists in the first 5 months of the year is estimated at 352.2 trillion VND.

According to the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism, major markets in Northeast Asia continue to grow strongly, which is the main driving force for the recovery of international visitors. Nearby markets in Southeast Asia grow well. Many markets in Europe continue to grow strongly due to the effectiveness of the new visa and immigration policies applied from August 2023.
