On the morning of February 20, in Ho Chi Minh City, the 14th Ho Chi Minh City Tourism Journalism Awards 2024 was held, launched by the Ho Chi Minh City Journalists Association in coordination with the Ho Chi Minh City Tourism Association, organized by Ho Chi Minh City Tourism Magazine and the Ho Chi Minh City Tourism Reporters Club.
Mr. Nguyen Tan Phong, Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City Journalists Association and Head of the Organizing Committee, said that in 2024, Ho Chi Minh City tourism will continue to win big with total revenue estimated at VND190,000 billion, up 18.8% over the same period in 2023. Domestic tourists will reach about 38 million, up 8.6% and international tourists will reach about 6 million, up 20%. Contributing to this success, it is impossible not to mention the communication and promotion activities of press agencies and units.
Ho Chi Minh City - a "Safe - Lively - Open - Youthful - Exciting" destination has been communicated in many diverse and rich forms, contributing to building and positioning the city's tourism brand image, enhancing the destination's competitiveness on the international tourism map.

Second Prize went to Nguoi Lao Dong Newspaper with a 3-part series: Tourism is frustrating, tourists lose money by the group of authors Thai Phuong - Le Tinh.
In particular, in the era of national culture, national identity becomes the "identity" to identify Vietnam in the global world, tourism communication activities are also an effective transmission channel, contributing to spreading traditional cultural values, promoting the image of the country - people of Vietnam and Ho Chi Minh City in particular.
"The entries have contributed to highlighting the continuous efforts of the Ho Chi Minh City tourism industry with specific improvements in the quality of activities, culture, economy, and creativity in tourism... At the same time, there are still many areas and ideas that can be exploited and created to develop the tourism economy," said Mr. Phong.
Mr. Duong Vu Thong, Permanent Vice President of the Ho Chi Minh City Journalists Association, Head of the award jury, said that this contest officially launched in November 2024 and after more than 1 month of launching, the organizing committee received nearly 200 works in the genres of radio/television, photo reportage, and feature articles in print and online newspapers from more than 100 reporters and editors from 27 newspapers and radio stations in Ho Chi Minh City and the whole country. This shows the attraction of the contest, the quantity and quality of articles have also been improved.
"Many works not only honor the achievements of the tourism industry but also provide practical solutions and recommendations to overcome difficulties, creating momentum for the development of Vietnamese tourism," Mr. Duong Vu Thong emphasized.
Accordingly, the organizing committee awarded prizes in 3 categories: Radio - Television, Print - Electronic Newspaper and Photo Reportage. Each category includes the following prizes: 1 First Prize; 1 Second Prize; 1 Third Prize; 3 Encouragement Prizes and 1 prize for the work with the most votes on the travel social network Soctrip.

In the category of Print Newspaper - Electronic Newspaper, the First Prize went to Ho Chi Minh City Tourism Magazine with a two-part series: Cultural Tourism: From policy institutions to vivid practices in Ho Chi Minh City by the author group Nguyen Thanh Hoa - Nguyen Thi Ngoc Huong - Huynh Nguyen Phuc Thinh (Ho Chi Minh City Tourism Magazine).
Second Prize went to Nguoi Lao Dong Newspaper with a 3-part series: "Tourists are upset, tourism loses revenue" by the group of authors Thai Phuong - Le Tinh.
Third prize went to Ho Chi Minh City Women's Newspaper with a two-part series: 100 interesting things that must really make tourists excited by the author group Nguyen Quoc Thai - Nguyen Thi Hoa Lai.
