In recent years, along with the concentration and prioritization of budget resources at all levels and the mobilization of socialized resources, Thanh Hoa tourism has had impressive changes. First of all, it is the technical facilities and tourism infrastructure that have been invested in a synchronous manner. Notably, many resort, health care, sports, and entertainment project complexes of regional and international standards have been and are being implemented by large economic groups with leading experience and capacity in Vietnam such as FLC, Vin Group, SunGroup, Flamingo, BRG, T&T, ROX... To meet that development, the quality of human resources and tourism services has been gradually improved significantly. Along with that, many unique and attractive tourism products have been formed, meeting the diverse needs, segments, and tastes of tourists inside and outside the province.
With the attention to investment in infrastructure and facilities, it has contributed to significantly improving the quality of destination services, especially key tourist attractions in the province. Thanks to that, Thanh Hoa tourism has had impressive growth in recent years, continuously ranking among the top in the country in attracting tourists during the holidays. In 2024, Thanh Hoa continues to be one of the attractive tourist destinations when it ranks first in terms of the number of visitors and revenue, surpassing many other localities with developed tourism. Specifically, Thanh Hoa tourism welcomed 15.3 million visitors, with total tourism revenue of nearly 34 trillion VND, an increase of 38% compared to 2023. Also in 2024, the number of tourists coming to Thanh Hoa increased positively in all 3 types: sea tourism, cultural tourism and community ecotourism. Showing that the messages "Thanh Hoa Tourism - Four Seasons of Fragrance" and "Thanh Hoa Tourism - Safe and Attractive Destination" are gradually spreading.
According to the assessment of the Provincial Tourism Development Steering Committee, in recent years, the province's tourism industry has changed significantly, with a variety of new, attractive, high-quality tourism products and services being put into operation and serving tourists. This is considered a huge boost, creating a breakthrough to attract and retain tourists. In particular, in localities with tourist areas, spots, and businesses, the Code of Conduct for civilized tourism has been effectively deployed and implemented, creating confidence for tourists in safe and attractive destinations.
Deputy Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism Vuong Thi Hai Yen said: The outstanding results in recent years of Thanh Hoa tourism are reflected in the high number of visitors, always exceeding the set target; tourists in some traditional markets still maintain strong growth momentum. Notably, Thanh Hoa province has successfully organized many large-scale cultural, sports and tourism events; many high-class tourism projects and products have been completed and put into operation... attracting the participation of a large number of tourists. The recognition of tourists is an important basis for Thanh Hoa tourism to more clearly depict its image and brand on the national tourism map.
According to a number of travel agencies, recent feedback from tourists has shown positive signs. Notably, some coastal tourist areas in the province that were previously at risk of being "boycotted" due to overcharging and soliciting... have now completely changed, attracting visitors back. Through a survey and assessment of more than 60 domestic travel agencies (November 2024), some destinations such as: Sam Son coastal urban area (Sam Son city), Pu Luong community eco-tourism area (Ba Thuoc), Lam Kinh historical relic site (Tho Xuan), Ho Dynasty Citadel cultural heritage (Vinh Loc), Hai Tien marine eco-tourism area (Hoang Hoa)... the level of satisfaction with the destination and service attitude reached 4/5 points.
General Director of GBest Vietnam Joint Stock Company Nguyen Thi Huyen commented: Thanh Hoa tourism has recently shown clear changes, especially in the attitude and quality of tourist services. This is one of the prerequisites for tourists to decide whether to return to Thanh Hoa or not. According to a survey of GBest's customer base, nearly 80% are satisfied with the destination and over 60% are willing to return to Thanh Hoa in the near future. However, that is partly due to the orientation of products suitable for customers of travel businesses, and at the same time shows that the destinations and tourism service establishments of the province still have limitations and need to make more efforts to improve service quality. The province needs to continue to deploy and implement the Code of Conduct for civilized tourism at all destinations and attract community participation. In addition, it is necessary to organize well the inspection and control work to ensure the environment, quality of products and services at the destination at all times.
For a long time, tourism has always taken the growth of visitors and revenue as a "measure" of development. However, entering a new stage of development, Thanh Hoa tourism has identified tourist satisfaction as one of the important bases for sustainable development of the "smokeless industry". Therefore, along with the efforts of all levels, sectors, localities and businesses, it is necessary to have the participation of the community, joining hands to develop tourism, with the motto "Unique products - Professional services - Convenient and simple procedures - Competitive prices - Clean and beautiful environment - Safe, civilized and friendly destinations".
