Export week 6/5-12/5: Rice export continues to grow; Thanh Ha lychee will be transported to Australia by plane. Conference on trade promotion and consumption of Thanh Ha lychee is about to take place.

This is an early-ripening lychee in a 1-ton shipment that Red Dragon Production, Trading and Service Company Limited (Ho Chi Minh City) exported to the Australian market last week.

Vải thiều Thanh Hà được niêm yết với giá 34,99 AUD/kg (tương đương 594.000 đồng/kg).
Thanh Ha litchi is listed at 34.99 AUD/kg (equivalent to 594,000 VND/kg)

According to Mr. Mai Xuan Thin - Director of Red Dragon Production, Trade and Service Company Limited, lychees are purchased from some gardens of Thanh Ha people. These lychee gardens meet VietGAP and GlobalGAP standards and are strictly inspected for quality in mid-May.

Enterprises export lychees to the Australian market by air and preserve them with modern technology, so despite the long wait for customs clearance, the lychees are still fresh and delicious when sold in supermarkets in Australia.

Mr. Mai Xuan Thin said that this shipment will be used to test the market. If the price and quality are highly appreciated, the partner will place more orders. To reduce costs, for orders after the main season, businesses can use sea transport.

This year, lychee output has dropped sharply, so Mr. Thin said that Red Dragon will not set too big a target for expanding orders, but will try its best to optimize the value of signed orders.

"After the first shipment, according to the plan when the lychee is in full bloom and the U Hong lychee tea is ready for harvest, the company will purchase 10-15 tons per day for export," said Mr. Mai Xuan Thin.

Ms. Hoang Thi Thuy Ha - Vice Chairman of Thanh Ha District People's Committee (Hai Duong) - said that Thanh Ha litchis are sold on the shelves of Market Place supermarket (Australia) with a listed price of 34.99 AUD/kg (equivalent to 594,000 VND/kg).

Last year, Vietnamese lychees imported by air to Australia were sold for around VND400,000 - 500,000/kg. Meanwhile, dozens of tons of lychees shipped by sea to many Australian states were sold for around VND260,000/kg. This is a very high price compared to the average lychee price of VND70,000 - 100,000/kg sold in the Vietnamese market.

According to Ms. Hoang Thi Thuy Ha, this year's lychee crop was bad, the early lychee tea output is estimated at over 20,000 tons of fruit, equal to 50% of the output in 2023. After visiting the lychee gardens in the district, businesses have raised the issue of exporting lychees to France, Thailand, Singapore, Canada...

In addition, Thanh Ha district currently has about 20 large and small weighing stations located mainly in Thanh Quang and Thanh Cuong communes. Lychees are being exported smoothly to China.

According to the Department of Cultivation and Plant Protection (Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Hai Duong province), the locality currently has 198 lychee growing area codes for export with a total area of over 1,124 hectares. Of which, 66 codes are exported to China, 45 codes are exported to Australia, 41 codes are exported to the US, 38 codes are exported to Japan, and 8 codes are exported to Thailand. Thanh Ha district has 167 codes with an area of over 720 hectares, Chi Linh city has 25 codes with 384 hectares, and Ninh Giang district has 6 export codes with an area of 20 hectares.

In addition, Hai Duong has 21 codes for lychee packaging and export facilities, mainly concentrated in Thanh Ha. All growing areas are produced according to VietGAP and GlobalGAP processes and have cultivation logs. During the care process, specialized units regularly monitor the facilities, inspect and supervise the growing areas to guide farmers to comply with the regulations of the importing country.
