Domestic pepper price updated on February 22, 2025 |
According to the Vietnam Pepper Association, pepper exports to the US in January 2025 increased by more than 20% compared to the same period last year. In addition, harsh weather and diseases on pepper plants also affected output, causing supply to continue to shrink.
According to the General Department of Customs, Vietnam's pepper exports in the first half of February 2025 reached 6,154 tons, equivalent to 41.5 million USD, down 3.6% in volume and 2.2% in value compared to the first half of January.
Cumulatively from the beginning of the year to February 15, pepper exports reached 19,083 tons, worth 128.8 million USD, down 17.2% in volume but recording a sharp increase of nearly 39% in value compared to the same period last year. This reflects a decline in export volume since the second half of last year, due to the increasingly depleted supply from the old crop, while the new harvest was delayed due to the impact of adverse weather.
In particular, the average export price of pepper from the beginning of the year to date has reached 6,749 USD/ton, an increase of 67.7% (equivalent to 2,725 USD/ton) over the same period last year, which is also the highest price in the past 9 years.

According to information from the Vietnam Pepper and Spice Association (VPSA), in the first half of February 2025, Vietnam successfully exported 7,535 tons of pepper, with a total turnover of 51.5 million USD.
Of which, the US and Germany hold the leading positions in Vietnamese pepper consumption, with imported pepper volume reaching 2,829 tons and 1,326 tons respectively.
VPSA believes that the outlook for the global pepper market in 2025 will continue to be positive. Pepper output is forecast to decrease amid extreme weather conditions affecting productivity in many countries. This creates opportunities for the pepper export industry, especially in the Chinese market, which, despite low pepper imports from Vietnam in 2024, is expected to see increased demand as soon as Vietnam enters its main harvest season.
