Mr. Dao Trung Thanh, Deputy Director of ABAII Institute shared on the sidelines of the event

Mr. Dao Trung Thanh, Deputy Director of ABAII Institute, said that AI is changing the world and is making extremely strong progress, having a huge impact on all areas such as economics, health, culture, education, etc. For the health sector, using AI to diagnose diseases can reduce treatment costs by up to 50%, while improving health examination results by up to 40%. According to research by the University of Hawaii, the implementation of AI technology improves the accuracy of predicting breast cancer risk, thanks to AI algorithms trained on a database of millions of images, far beyond the research and reception capabilities of radiologists. In particular, medical facilities can reuse algorithms without additional costs, except for hardware.

At the seminar, Associate Professor, Doctor, Doctor Tran Thi Khanh Tuong, Head of the Faculty of Medicine, Head of the Department of General Internal Medicine, Pham Ngoc Thach University of Medicine, shared: “AI and Blockchain can bring many positive impacts to the medical industry such as disease diagnosis, medical record management, drug origin control and circulation process... The school is very interested in the applications of Blockchain and AI in the medical industry and is researching to implement appropriate training programs, to help students gain more knowledge and skills in the context of technology changing rapidly, every day like today".

Vietnam Blockchain Association awards 30 scholarships to students and lecturers at Pham Ngoc Thach University of Medicine

This is the 8th seminar, part of the Unitour program series - popularizing Blockchain and AI at universities across the country, implemented by the Vietnam Blockchain Association, the Blockchain Technology and Artificial Intelligence Institute ABAII from March 2024.

On this occasion, the Association awarded 30 scholarships to students and lecturers at Pham Ngoc Thach University of Medicine. The scholarships include training courses, focusing on popularizing knowledge about AI, Blockchain, Code platforms, etc.

According to the Ministry of Health, the application of AI in medical examination and treatment is a common trend worldwide. The Vietnamese healthcare sector is strongly applying AI technology to help improve and upgrade patient healthcare activities. AI helps improve the ability to diagnose diseases, even serious diseases. AI cannot replace doctors, but algorithms and the ability to synthesize complex data allow the device to support doctors in providing appropriate treatments for each patient. In addition, AI also helps manage medical records and databases, monitor health, consult and manage pharmaceuticals, etc.
