The Provincial People's Committee has just directed units and localities to strengthen coordination in handling the situation of sand mining causing landslides on the banks of the Krong No River through Nam Ka Commune, Lak District.
Accordingly, the Provincial People's Committee requested the People's Committee of Lak district to implement the coordination regulations in managing riverbed sand in the Krong No river area bordering Krong No district, Dak Nong province; direct the People's Committee of Nam Ka commune to implement measures to protect unexploited sand; prevent illegal sand mining activities immediately after detecting or receiving reports of illegal sand mining activities in the area, handle violations according to the provisions of law, in cases exceeding the authority, report to the Provincial People's Committee for handling according to the provisions of law; continue to inspect and review landslide areas, areas with high risk of landslides, propose the Provincial People's Committee to demarcate areas where riverbed sand mining is prohibited; monitor the operating time as well as sand mining of enterprises with correct boundaries, areas, and locations of sand mining, promptly detect and handle mining enterprises causing riverbank erosion to prevent and propose the Provincial People's Committee to revoke mining licenses according to regulations.

At the same time, organize propaganda and mobilize people not to arbitrarily transfer land to sand mining units, recommend people to switch to plant varieties with deep roots to stabilize the soil to minimize landslides.
The Chairman of the Lak District People's Committee is fully responsible to the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee for illegal sand mining activities and management of sand and gravel on riverbeds in the district according to the provisions of law.
The provincial police directed the Environmental Police, Economic Police, Lak District Police, and Nam Ka Commune Police to strengthen patrols, inspections, prevent, stop, and handle violations of illegal sand mining on the Krong No River; transport, gather, and trade sand of unknown origin concentrated in the border areas between Dak Lak and Dak Nong provinces. Set up checkpoints to inspect and handle unregistered and uninspected mineral mining vessels, and vehicle users who do not have the required professional qualifications for the vehicles.

The Provincial Tax Department directs local tax authorities to coordinate with relevant agencies in inspecting and examining the determination of actual exploited river sand output.
The Department of Natural Resources and Environment coordinates with the Department of Natural Resources and Environment of Dak Nong province to study and develop a coordination regulation to replace the previous coordination regulation to be suitable for the management of sand mining enterprises on the Krong No River bordering the two provinces.
Buon Kuop Hydropower Company and Hung Phuc Power Construction and Installation One Member Co., Ltd. implement solutions to minimize changes in the capacity of the generator and the number of daily starts/stops to reduce fluctuations in the river water level downstream, complying with the Inter-reservoir Operation Procedure on the Serepok River Basin according to Decision No. 1612/QD-TTg dated November 13, 2019 of the Prime Minister. At the same time, coordinate with the People's Committee of Lak district to work with flooded households to support people.
