In recent years, due to complicated floods and rains, the Khe Che river bank (a branch flowing into Ngan Pho river) through Tien Phong village (Son Kim 2 commune, Huong Son district, Ha Tinh) has suffered serious landslides.
It is worth mentioning that landslides have swept away many hectares of tea belonging to local people recently, making people extremely worried.
Mr. Nguyen Huy Hung (residing in Tien Phong village, Son Kim 2 commune) said that every rainy season, the river water rises high and flows rapidly, causing landslides that wash away many tea plantations of the people.
In recent years, landslides have become more complicated, so if there is no way to reinforce the riverbank, people risk having no more land to cultivate.
According to Tien Phong villagers, the tea hill by the river has an area of about 100 hectares. In recent years, riverbank erosion has caused about 10 hectares of tea to be washed away into the river.
The eroded tea area cannot be restored, including many areas that are about to be harvested, affecting the yield as well as the income of the people.

Mr. Le Hong Phong - Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Son Kim 2 Commune (Huong Son District) - said that the landslide situation on the Khe Che River bank has been happening for many years, especially the flood in early November caused the tea hill area in Tien Phong village to collapse with a length of about 600m, a width of 4m, equivalent to about 2.4ha.
Faced with the above landslides, in previous years, local authorities and people used bamboo stakes to reinforce the riverbank and planted bamboo to hold the soil. However, these solutions were ineffective because during heavy rains and floods, the bamboo was washed away.
"Recently, through meetings with voters, people have reported the riverbank erosion situation to local authorities, and at the same time wanted a project to reinforce the riverbank.
We have also proposed this to our superiors, but so far no project has been approved," Mr. Phong added.
