The Vietnam U17 team will leave for Oman tomorrow (March 22) and play two friendly matches with the host country's U17 team, which is also preparing for the 2025 AFC U17 Championship Finals.
Before the departure, Head Coach Roland reported to the VFF leadership. He said that both the coaching staff and the players have worked very hard and tried their best recently, and the whole team will continue to train hard in Oman. "Although the opponents in the upcoming Final Round are very strong, the whole team is determined to fight with all their might," said Head Coach Roland.
Mr. Nguyen Van Phu - General Secretary of VFF introduced the position of Team Leader in the Vietnam U17 team participating in the Final Round assigned to Mr. Mai Anh Hoang - Deputy Head of VFF Training Department. With experience in supervising AFC matches, General Secretary Nguyen Van Phu believes that Mr. Mai Anh Hoang will provide maximum support for the activities of the Vietnam U17 team during the competition in Saudi Arabia. Mr. Mai Anh Hoang expressed his hope that with the careful preparation of the whole team and the upcoming important training session in Oman, the Vietnam U17 team will achieve the best results at the 2025 AFC U17 Final Round.

After more than 2 weeks of training and testing personnel and playing style through practice matches, head coach Cristiano Roland made the first decision to reduce the Vietnam U17 team to 30 players.
Accordingly, the four players who had to say goodbye were goalkeeper Ly Xuan Hoa (PVF), Tran Hoang Viet (Hanoi Club), Nguyen Van Phuc (Hong Linh Ha Tinh) and Thomas Mai Veeren (HV Quick).
In Oman, the team will have two friendly matches against the host country's U17 team, which is also preparing for the 2025 AFC U17 Championship. "As in the qualifying round, we will try to solve each match in the tournament. I have talked about the things that need to be improved since the qualifying round and have planned them in daily practice.
