President awards First Class Labor Medal to Da Nang City

On March 21, President Luong Cuong signed Decision No. 367/QD-CTN to award the First Class Labor Medal to the Party Committee, government and people of Da Nang City for "outstanding achievements in digital transformation, tourism development, social security, contributing to the cause of building socialism and defending the Fatherland".

This is a great joy for the Party Committee, government and people of Da Nang City, right on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the city's Liberation Day (March 29, 1975 - March 29, 2025), the 95th anniversary of the founding of the Da Nang City Party Committee (March 28, 1930 - March 28, 2025).

Da Nang was awarded the First Class Labor Medal by the President.

According to the Department of Culture and Sports of Da Nang, the ceremony will be held on the morning of March 29 at Tien Son Sports Palace with about 4,000 delegates attending. On this occasion, Da Nang will also support Quang Nam in investing in renovating the national historical relic of Quang Da Special Zone Party Committee Base in Hon Tau (Duy Xuyen district); supporting activities to commemorate the traditional liaison committees of the armed forces during the resistance war in the city.

At the same time, delegations were organized to revisit the old battlefields, build traditional houses and memorial stele of the Women's Union of Liberation Zone 5. The city also organized a National Festival to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the Homeland in 1,200 residential areas; a scientific seminar "Continuing the heroic tradition - Da Nang strives to enter a new era"; and an exhibition "Da Nang - Development and integration".

Da Nang City will organize many activities and events to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the city's Liberation Day (March 29, 1975 - March 29, 2025), and the 95th anniversary of the founding of the Da Nang City Party Committee (March 28, 1930 - March 28, 2025).

There will also be a parade of flower cars and flower boats; the 2025 Danang Traditional Boat Race - VTV8 Cup and a series of sports and entertainment activities. Danang City directs the organization of the "Danang Dedication 2025" Award. The art program "Heroic Danang - Rising into a new era" will be performed by Trung Vuong Theater on the evening of March 29; fireworks will be set off at 10 p.m. on March 29 at Asia Park.

At the same time, organize the technical opening of Quang Da bridge and the approach road; post a sign for the project of Renovation and upgrading of 42 Bach Dang facility to build Da Nang Museum; post a sign for the social housing project for people with revolutionary contributions on Vu Mong Nguyen street.

After the liberation of Da Nang City on March 29, 1975, Da Nang was a city of the former Quang Nam - Da Nang province. Peace was restored, and the locality began to restore the severe consequences of the war. Although there were still many difficulties, the restoration and development of the city achieved many results, especially in the renovation period after 1986.

On November 6, 1996, at the 10th session, the 9th National Assembly passed a Resolution allowing Quang Nam - Da Nang province to split into Quang Nam province and Da Nang city under the Central Government. Regarding administrative boundaries, the new Da Nang city includes the former Da Nang city, Hoa Vang district and Hoang Sa island district.

On July 30, 2024, the People's Council of Da Nang City passed a resolution agreeing on the policy of arranging and merging district-level and commune-level administrative units in the period of 2023 - 2025 of Da Nang City. Specifically, after the merger, Da Nang City has reduced 9 wards, from 56 commune-level administrative units (including 45 wards and 11 communes) to 47 commune-level administrative units (including 36 wards and 11 communes).

According to the Da Nang Statistical Office, the average population of Da Nang City in 2024 is estimated to reach 1.276 million people with an area of ​​1,284.9 km2.
