Việt NamViệt Nam02/10/2024

Yen Chau District Youth Union has over 10,500 youth union members, operating in 15 youth union branches. Promoting their pioneering and proactive role, the youth here are making efforts to implement many effective economic development models.

Youth Union members of Chieng Sang commune, Yen Chau district exchange fruit tree growing techniques.

Arriving at Lao Kho 2 village, Phieng Khoai commune, everyone knows Trang Lao Cu, a typical young man in the economic development movement in the village. Born and raised in a border commune with many difficulties, after graduating from college, he returned to his hometown to start a business. Initially, due to lack of experience, the production and livestock models were not effective. With the support of the Youth Union, he actively visited and learned about economic development models in neighboring communes, learned about experiences and knowledge of livestock and crop farming through associations and groups. Along with that, he was supported with 50 million VND from preferential loans for young entrepreneurs to develop production. Mr. Cu shared: With the advantage of climate and soil suitable for growing temperate crops and vegetables, I have contracted 1.5 hectares of land, of which 1 hectare was renovated to grow plums and pears; invested in trellises for growing green squash; The remaining area is used to raise ducks and use biological bedding to prevent disease. Each year, the combined farming and livestock model brings in nearly 200 million VND in income.

In Chieng Dong commune, Ms. Lo Thi Hoa, Then Luong village has invested in a free-range chicken farm model. Learning from books and newspapers, she tried buying 200 Lac Thuy chickens from Hoa Binh province to graze in a nearly 400 m2 fruit garden. While raising and gaining experience, now her family's chicken farming model has developed to 4,000 chickens/year, divided into 4 batches, each batch of 1,000 chickens. Ms. Hoa said: Free-range chicken farming is spacious, easy to care for, has few diseases, the chicken flock grows quickly and evenly. With a selling price of 100,000-120,000 VND/kg, after deducting expenses, I earn nearly 200 million VND/year. With capital, I continue to expand and build a barn to raise 60 native pigs, combined with growing mangoes, increasing income.

Currently, Yen Chau district has 1 youth cooperative, 15 youth economic clubs and nearly 400 economic models with income from 100 million VND/year or more owned by young union members. Typical examples include the cow raising model of Mr. Bui Van Viet, Chieng Pan commune; growing plums of Mr. Do Van Hoang, Long Phieng commune; growing round mangoes of Mr. Quang Van Bun, Sap Vat commune; growing garlic of Ms. Quang Thi Mung, Chieng Sang commune...

To improve the knowledge and skills of young union members in economic development, Yen Chau District Youth Union regularly coordinates to organize training courses on transferring science and technology in production; consulting, introducing jobs; guiding the process of building OCOP products, promoting and introducing youth products. Up to now, many products made by young union members have been welcomed by the market, such as: black garlic, mango, plum, dried banana, papaya flower tea... In addition, the District Youth Union has received the trust from the District Social Policy Bank Transaction Office to lend nearly 100 billion VND to over 1,670 youth households. According to the assessment of the Youth Union bases, the youth who received capital support all have specific models and clear economic development plans. After 2-3 years of receiving capital, most of the youth have stabilized their lives and repaid the loan on time. Thanks to that, the capital is rotated, continuing to support new production projects, helping many local youth have conditions to develop the economy.

Ms. Vi Thi Dong, Secretary of Yen Chau District Youth Union, said: In the 2024-2029 term, the District Youth Union strives to support at least 5 innovative start-up projects for young people, introduce jobs to 600 or more young people, build 5 models of young people doing good business... Yen Chau District Youth Union continues to effectively implement solutions in the program "Supporting young people to start a business in Son La province in the period of 2023-2030"; train, foster, improve business management capacity, capacity to apply digital transformation for young people to start a business; train and guide new models and methods of production and business for young people; promptly commend and reward good models, practices, typical collectives and individuals in their efforts to strive to establish themselves, start a business, and develop the economy.

With the spirit of shock, pioneering and effort, Yen Chau youth have been and are being given good conditions to start a business, establish a career, increase income for themselves and their families, contributing to economic development and sustainable poverty reduction in the locality.
