On the afternoon of January 25, at a regular press conference, Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Pham Thu Hang provided the above information and said that the visit took place at the invitation of President Vo Van Thuong and his wife.
Spokesperson Pham Thu Hang said this is the first visit of Philippine President Ferdinand Romualdez Marcos Jr. to Vietnam since taking office.
In recent years, Vietnam-Philippines relations have developed well in many areas. Political cooperation has been strengthened with many visits and high-level meetings and contacts. Economic cooperation between the two countries has developed positively, the Philippines is the 6th largest partner in ASEAN and the 16th largest in the world of Vietnam. The Philippines continues to be Vietnam's largest rice export market.
Cooperation in other important areas such as national security and defense, education and training, labor, culture and tourism continues to be emphasized. The two countries also continue to maintain close coordination at regional and international forums such as ASEAN, the United Nations and APEC.
The spokesperson informed that within the framework of his visit to Vietnam, Philippine President Ferdinand Romualdez Marcos Jr. is expected to hold talks with President Vo Van Thuong and meet with key Vietnamese leaders as well as have other important activities.
