Pepper prices today, March 3, 2025, in the domestic market increased inconsistently in key localities, trading from 156,000 - 159,000 VND/kg.

Specifically, pepper price today in Gia Lai is at 157,000 VND/kg.

Pepper prices today in the provinces of Dong Nai (156,000 VND/kg); Dak Lak (159,000 VND/kg); Dak Nong (159,000 VND/kg); Ba Ria - Vung Tau (157,000 VND/kg) and Binh Phuoc (158,000 VND/kg).

Thus, pepper prices today increased in key growing areas, increasing by 1,000 - 3,000 VND/kg. The highest pepper price is at 159,000 VND/kg.

Speaking to the press, Vice President of Gia Lai Pepper Association Hoang Phuoc Binh said he had just surveyed some key pepper growing provinces and consulted with many farmers in 6 provinces of the Central Highlands and the Southeast.

Through assessment in the gardens, pepper output this year decreased by about 10 - 15%, especially in Dak Lak province, it decreased a lot because coffee and durian trees gradually overwhelmed the pepper gardens.

Similarly, the pepper growing area in Dong Nai and Binh Phuoc provinces has also decreased significantly. In Dak Nong province alone, the Vice President of the Gia Lai Pepper Association said that half of the pepper growing area in the East, along Highway 14, had a good harvest, but the other half in the West had a bad harvest. Most of the other provinces also had reduced pepper output. Combined with the nearly depleted inventory, this year's pepper output will be lower than last year.

Meanwhile, according to the early season forecast of the Vietnam Pepper and Spice Association, domestic output this year will increase by about 10%.

Currently, pepper prices have increased to more than 160 thousand VND/kg. This is the highest price in nearly 10 years, promising to bring high profits to pepper growers.

According to VPSA statistics, the country currently has about 200 pepper processing and trading enterprises, of which 15 are leading enterprises, accounting for 70% of the country's export volume. The entire industry has 14 deep processing factories. In particular, there are 5 foreign-invested enterprises, accounting for nearly 30% of the export market share.

Vietnam's pepper processing technology has reached the standards of the world market in general. Enterprises with high-tech processing factories according to ASTA, ESA, JSSA standards have created diverse products: whole black and white pepper, ground pepper, and small packages.

Mr. Le Viet Anh, Chief of VPSA Office, assessed that the current high pepper prices will encourage farmers to increase their cultivation efforts, helping to increase productivity per hectare in the coming years. However, new planting areas will need time to produce products, so it is difficult for producing countries like Vietnam to recover significantly in the short term.

In the world market, at the end of the most recent trading session, the International Pepper Community (IPC) listed the price of Lampung black pepper (Indonesia) at 7,235 USD/ton, down 0.87%; the price of Brazilian black pepper ASTA 570 at 6,850 USD/ton; the price of Kuching black pepper (Malaysia) ASTA at 9,700 USD/ton.

Muntok white pepper price is 9,959 USD/ton, down 0.88%; Malaysian ASTA white pepper price is at 12,200 USD/ton.

Vietnam black pepper price is traded at 6,900 USD/ton for 500 g/l; 550 g/l at 7,100 USD/ton; white pepper price at 9,900 USD/ton.
